Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 293
Chapter 293
Next to him was Minerva’s little face, a mix of worry and the
look of someone who’d caused trouble.
“Kevin?
Mina?”
Madeleine was so surprised she forgot the pain, quickly
pushing off the floor to stand up.
Leona frowned too, her sharp gaze sweeping towards the door,
clearly annoyed at being interrupted.
Kevin noticed the expression on the woman next to his mom
and felt terrified.
Is that my mom’s teacher?
She’s so scary.
I heard some mean teachers hit their students. She isn’t one of
those teachers, is she?
As Kevin thought about it, his eyes grew even redder.
Chapter 293
Madeleine, seeing something was wrong, hurried over and
opened the door from the inside.
“Kev?”
The moment Madeleine spoke, Kevin rushed over and buried
his head against her, his small arms wrapping tightly around her
legs.
“Mom, you just fell. Does it hurt?
I’ll kiss it better.”
။
Madeleine was both amused and touched. “Kev, Mommy’s not
hurt. Falling is normal in dancing. If you don’t believe me, ask
your aunt. She falls all the time.”
Minerva raised her hand and stuck out her tongue.
Madeleine’s heart felt soft and warm. She quickly bent down,
picked up her son, and patted his back soothingly.
“Don’t cry, Maddie. Don’t worry. How did you guys get here?”
Minerva jumped in to answer, her face excited and a little
embarrassed:
“Your husband had Mathew drive us. Kev and I both missed

you, and we wanted to see you dance!”
As she spoke, her big eyes glanced curiously into the dance
studio. When she met Leona’s gaze, she quickly, and sweetly
called out, “Hello, teacher.”
Kevin buried his little head in the soft, fragrant crook of his
mother’s neck, nuzzling against her. His muffled voice was
tinged with grievance and lingering fear.
“Kev missed Mommy… saw Mommy fall… was scared…”
As he spoke, he secretly lifted his big, teary eyes and shot a
quick glance at Leona, who was still standing nearby. His small
hand immediately tightened its grip on his mother’s collar.
Madeleine’s heart melted completely. She kissed the top of her
son’s head. “Mommy’s okay, Maddie, don’t be scared. Dancing
is just like when Kev learned to walk. You fall down, and you
just get back up.”
Holding her son, she turned to the side and introduced them in
as light a tone as possible.
“Kev, this is Aunt Leona. She was a classmate of Mommy’s, and
now she’s helping Mommy get her dancing skills back. Aunt
Leona is amazing.”
Chapter 293
Leona, who had been standing by with a blank expression,
showed a slight change in her face when she heard this.
Is she complimenting me?
Tsk, does she mean it?
Whatever, who cares.
Leona thought, and the corners of her mouth curved up
unconsciously.
She walked closer, rested her hands on her knees, and greeted
Kevin, “Hello.”
“Hel…lo.”
Kevin timidly shrank his neck back.
This lady is so weird. She actually says “Hello” to a little kid.
“That’s all for today’s training.”
She paused, her gaze falling on Madeleine’s knee:
“You fell because you didn’t tighten your core and didn’t
cushion your landing enough. Today’s training was a bit intense,
so it’s normal that you couldn’t keep up.”
Chapter 293
After she finished, her eyes swept over Kevin.
“Your son… is a lot like Roderick.”
“You mean his looks?
I think he looks more like me.”
“No.”
Leona shook her head, “I mean how fiercely protective he is of
his own.”
Her tone was still flat, but it seemed… not as cold?
Madeleine was in a great mood. She suddenly remembered
something, “Leona, let’s have dinner together.”
These past few days, she and Leona only ever saw each other
at the dance studio. Once practice was over, they’d go their
separate ways. They’d never even had a meal together, let alone
walked out of the studio side–by–side.
So when she heard the invitation, Leona thought she had
misheard.
Seeing that she didn’t immediately refuse, Madeleine quickly
put her son down and grabbed her phone. “Let me see if
Chapter 293
Roderick is coming home tonight. If he is, we can eat at my
place. If not, we’ll go out for something good.”
Leona’s refusal was right on the tip of her tongue.
Seeing that she was already making the call, she could only
swallow it back down.
The call connected, and before Madeleine could even speak,
she heard someone talking on Roderick’s end.
“Huh?
Ricki, why does it sound like Bradley is over there with you?”
And… is that him wailing?
“Yeah.”
Roderick pressed his temples, looking helplessly at Bradley,
who was lying on his office sofa and howling.
He lowered his voice and whispered, “It’s about Bradley and
Charlotte. I’ll tell you when I get home later.”
When Madeleine heard that, her eyes lit up.
