The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 257

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 257

Chapter 257

She came in and scanned the room. It was empty. The bed

didn’t even look like it had been slept in.

But Rebecca’s luggage was definitely on the table nearby.

Madeleine was completely baffled.

Wait…

What gossip did she miss last night?!

Hungover. Headache.

That was the only thought in Bradley’s mind.

He returned to what should have been his own room. The bed

was neatly made, and there seemed to be a faint scent of

Charlotte in the air.

It was very faint, but Bradley could still smell it.

He chugged a large glass of water, squinted, and tried to recall

what exactly happened last night.

Last night, after getting Simon drunk and prying the information

about that doll from him, Bradley couldn’t wait a second longer

and stumbled to Charlotte’s room.

At that hour, Charlotte was already in bed.

Of course, she wasn’t asleep yet. She was also upset about

everything that had happened during the day.

Knowing that Bradley and Simon were still outside having a drinking contest, she wanted to go check on them several

times.

But she was worried…

If she showed up, the situation would probably get even more

out of control.

As her mind was racing, someone knocked on the door.

To be precise, they were banging on the door.

The force was so strong it startled Charlotte.

Worried she would wake the others, she quickly turned on the

light and got out of bed.

Chapter 257

“Who is it?”

“Me.”

It was Bradley’s voice.

Charlotte’s palm on the doorknob was sweaty. She didn’t open the door right away, her heart racing.

“Open the door.”

Bradley’s voice was, muffled, and he was making a lot of noise.

If she didn’t open the door, she had no idea if he’d start making

a scene.

Charlotte knew he wasn’t a good drinker, and he was probably

drunk by now.

With no other choice, Charlotte could only open the door.

As soon as she opened the door, Bradley practically fell in, and

a startled Charlotte could only reach out to catch him.

“You…” Charlotte gasped, unable to get the words out.

So heavy.

Bradley was six–foot–one; Charlotte really couldn’t hold him up

without using all her strength.

He reeked of alcohol and felt hot. Charlotte gritted her teeth,

struggling to get him to stand up straight.

“Don’t… don’t move around. I’ll help you inside so you can sit.”

The two of them remained in that awkward, intimate embrace,

slowly shuffling inside.

By the time they reached the bed, Bradley stumbled, falling onto

it and pinning Charlotte underneath him.

“Ugh…”

Pinned beneath him, Charlotte felt a sharp pain and let out an

involuntary grunt.

Her delicate brows furrowed tightly.

That pained sound seemed to flip a switch in Bradley’s hazy,

drunken mind.

His heavy body stiffened for a moment. Then, he wobbled and

managed to prop himself up on his arms, taking some of the

weight off Charlotte.

He struggled to focus his hazy eyes, looking down at the

woman beneath him.

In his bloodshot eyes, there was a look of dazed, almost

instinctual concern.

“Charlotte.”

His voice was slurred, thick with the smell of alcohol, but it had

somehow softened.

Like a big dog that did something wrong and was afraid of its

owner’s scolding, he asked clumsily and anxiously, “Did I hurt

you?”

He kept repeating “I’m sorry” and “Don’t be mad.”

His warm, alcohol–laced breath tickled the crook of Charlotte’s

neck, making her uncomfortable and causing her heart to skip a

few beats.

This was a side of Bradley she had never seen before.

All his thorns and pretenses were gone, leaving only a raw, almost childlike dependence and a desire to please.

Charlotte’s heart felt like it had been gently bumped, leaving a soft, aching feeling.

Chapter 257

She had intended to push him away, but her hands had lost

their strength without her realizing it.

“It’s okay,” she heard her own voice, a little hoarse and with a

faint, almost imperceptible tremble.

“You… get up first, you’re too heavy.”

“Oh… okay…”

Bradley mumbled in agreement, trying to push himself up.

But his limbs were weak from the alcohol, and after a few

wobbly attempts, he just kept falling back onto her.

Each unintentional collision made Charlotte’s face flush a

deeper shade of red.

Gritting her teeth, she simply shoved Bradley to the side.

He rolled over and lay on his side, finally allowing Charlotte to

get free.

She quickly sat up, straightening her messy clothes and hair.

“How much did you drink? You even came to the wrong room. I’ll go get Isabella to take care of you.”

Chapter 257

Charlotte tried to leave, but Bradley grabbed her hand.

His eyes were hazy, and his voice was hoarse.

“Charlotte, don’t leave me.”
