The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 212

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash ` 212

Fiona felt as if she’d been hit over the head with a club.

See? That’s what real friends are.

Friends are like Madeleine and Rebecca. What does that make

Mary?

Just then, Mary walked over, the sound of her high heels clicking, wearing a designer dress that was clearly a bad fit.

“Fiona, what do you think of this one?

I think it’s perfect for me!”

Fiona looked up, sizing up this so–called “friend” for the first

time.

Mary’s face was plastered with a fawning smile, but her eyes

glinted with greed.

She realized she had been letting someone like this lead her by

the nose all along.

“It doesn’t suit you.”

Chapter 212

Fiona’s voice was surprisingly calm. “I have something to do,

I’m leaving. Don’t contact me again.”

Mary’s smile froze on her face. “Wh–what?”

“I said, that outfit doesn’t suit you.”

After saying each word deliberately, Fiona didn’t spare Mary

another glance, grabbing her bag and turning to leave.

“But…” Mary grew anxious and grabbed Fiona’s wrist. “This

dress really does suit me, and you promised…”

Fiona gently pulled her hand back. “I have work to take care of.

If you make me late, you can’t afford it.”

She turned to a nearby sales associate. “Please help this lady

change back into her original clothes. The VIP service is

canceled.”

The associate understood immediately and said to Mary politely

but firmly, “Ma’am, please follow me to the regular fitting room

to change.”

Mary’s face turned ugly in an instant. “Fiona!

What do you mean by this?”

Chapter 212

Her voice rose sharply, causing other customers to turn and

look.

Fiona acted as if she couldn’t hear and walked out quickly.

Mary tried to chase after her but was stopped‘ by the associate.

“Ma’am, you haven’t paid yet.”

“Pay for what?

Isn’t she paying?”

Mary pointed furiously at Fiona’s retreating back.

The associate gave a professional smile. “Fiona didn’t say she

would pay for you.

If you like the dress, you can purchase it yourself at the

register.”

Mary’s face flushed red then turned pale, and she finally

stomped her foot, seething, “I’ll change back!”

Madeleine and Rebecca stood not far away, taking in the whole

scene.

Madeleine let out a long sigh of relief when she saw it.

Chapter 212

“Satisfying.”

Rebecca didn’t say anything, just looked down at her for a

moment, her gaze deep.

As they walked out of the luxury boutique, the sunlight fell

perfectly on them.

Rebecca stopped walking and grabbed Madeleine’s wrist.

“Madeleine.”

Her voice was unusually serious, “I understood everything you

just said to Fiona.”

Madeleine’s smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly

recovered. “What’s wrong?

What did you understand?

Rebecca narrowed her eyes, her gaze sharp enough to pierce

through someone’s soul. “Mary, Zoe… they’re too much like

NPCs in a murder mystery game.”

Madeleine’s heart skipped a beat.

Chapter 212

She never expected that the first person to figure it out would

be Rebecca.

The smile on her face felt stiff. Madeleine tried to force it, but

she just couldn’t.

“Rebecca…”

Madeleine’s voice was barely a whisper. “Have you ever had this

feeling?

Where your head tells you something is wrong, but you just

can’t stop yourself from wanting to believe it?”

The look in Rebecca’s eyes changed.

She pulled Madeleine over to a seating area in a corner of the

mall and pushed her down. “Explain.”

Madeleine’s fingers unconsciously twisted the hem of her

clothes, her eyes darting around.

She opened her mouth, then closed it again, as if she had a

million things to say but didn’t know where to start.

Rebecca watched her quietly, her sharp gaze slowly turning complex.

Chapter 212

The noisy chatter of the mall formed a natural barrier around

them.

“It’s like…” Rebecca spoke up, her voice soft, “you know Edward

is a scumbag, but you can’t help but like him?”

Madeleine snapped her head up, meeting Rebecca’s eyes, which seemed to see right through everything.

She saw a flash of understanding in her friend’s eyes, quickly

replaced by heartache.

A strange silence fell between them.

Not because there was nothing to say, but because nothing

needed to be said.

“Rebecca.”

Madeleine finally just said her name softly, her voice filled with

an indescribable complexity.

Rebecca sighed deeply, reached out, and ruffled her hair, so

forcefully it almost messed up her hairstyle.

“Dummy.”

She scolded, but with an unspoken tenderness, “Tell me sooner

Chapter 212

next time.”

Madeleine’s nose tingled.

She knew Rebecca understood.

Not the surface–level explanations, but the deeper feelings that

even she couldn’t quite put into words.

I said I’d come out to cheer Rebecca up, but it turned out she

was the one comforting me.

Madeleine felt a little bad about it.

“Rebecca, what do you want to eat tonight? My treat.”

“It’s still so early, not even dinnertime yet.”
