The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 174

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 174

Isabella shrugged, “I’m so jealous. You get to see living people

every day, unlike me… never mind, probably not the best topic

for dinner, hehe.”

From a distance, Madeleine suddenly grabbed Rebecca’s arm,

her nails digging into her flesh. “Oh my god, isn’t that Bradley’s

sister, Charlotte!”

Rebecca calmly patted her hand away. “I see her.”

Madeleine sneakily took out her phone to take a picture and

send it to Roderick.

Madeleine’s fingers flew across the screen: [Look!

Bradley’s blind date brought Charlotte with her!

It’s an Underworld! An Underworld!]

Roderick replied quickly: [?]

Followed by another message: [Stay away. Bradley turns into a

mad dog when he sees his sister.]

Chapter 174

He was afraid his little Madeleine would get caught in the

crossfire.

Madeleine pouted and continued to watch them nosily.

“Why are those two pretending they don’t know each other?”

“Probably to avoid making Isabella feel awkward.”

Rebecca analyzed rationally, “Charlotte is afraid Isabella will

find out that Bradley likes her. If it gets out, how could they

finish this meal?”

“True.”

Madeleine sighed, resting her chin on her hand with a pained

expression.

Rebecca found it strange and reached out to poke her furrowed

brow.

“What’s wrong with you?”

“Tell me, is the pseudo–incestuous ship better, or the doctor-

forensic examiner ship?”

Rebecca narrowed her eyes, studying Madeleine for a moment.

Chapter 174

“I never would’ve guessed. You’re quite the shipper.”

Madeleine nodded like a chicken pecking at rice.

“Yeah, yeah! You and that antiques guy are a great ship too!”

“Stop.”

Rebecca shot her a glare.

“Adrian and I only have a working relationship. Don’t just ship

us.”

Madeleine just smiled without a word. So stubborn. She was

just waiting for their fluffy moments.

When they were almost done eating, Isabella got up to go to the

restroom, and the air at the table instantly froze.

“When did you get back?”

Bradley asked in a low voice.

Charlotte cut her steak gracefully. “Last week.”

“Why didn’t you contact me?”

Chapter 174

“Was there a need to?”

She looked up at him, her gaze as calm as if she were looking

at a stranger. “Bradley, we have no relationship anymore.”

“That’s right. No relationship.”

Bradley’s eyes held a hint of excitement. “So you’re not my

sister anymore. Charlotte, we…”

“Legally, we have no relationship, but I’ve always seen you as

my little brother.”

“Charlotte!”

Bradley was getting angry. “Do you dare to look me in the eye

and say that again?”

Charlotte kept her head down, cutting her steak, and didn’t

move.

Isabella’s footsteps approached, and the two of them

immediately reverted to polite, distant expressions.

“What are you two talking about?”

Isabella looked at them curiously. Something seemed off about

their expressions.

Chapter 174

Charlotte smiled and wiped the corner of her mouth. “I was

asking Dr. Kline what sports he usually likes.”

“Oh yeah? Dr. Kline looks like he’s in great shape. What sports do you like?”

Isabella asked with great interest.

Bradley looked at Charlotte’s perfect fake smile and suddenly

felt a tightness in his chest. “Fencing.”

That used to be Charlotte’s favorite sport.

Charlotte’s eyelashes trembled slightly, but she quickly returned

to normal.

Isabella said, delighted, “Charlotte, don’t you like fencing too?

We could go together. How about we find a fencing club and

have some fun this afternoon?”

“I’m afraid not.”

Charlotte picked up her phone with an apologetic look. “I just

got a message, there’s an urgent meeting.”

Instinctively, Bradley didn’t want her to leave.

“I’ll drive you.”

Chapter 174

“There’s no need.”

Charlotte smiled and declined, “My car is right outside.”

She turned to Isabella, “Isabella, have fun.”

Bradley watched her back as she turned to leave. Three years,

and she was still the same–always elegant and poised.

Always… keeping him a thousand miles away.

Isabella watched Charlotte’s retreating figure in confusion, then

turned to look at Bradley. “Do you two… know each other?”

Bradley pulled his gaze back and said flatly, “We don’t.”

His tone was so calm, he almost believed it himself.

Only he knew that as he said those words, it felt like something

was viciously squeezing his heart.

Outside the restaurant, Charlotte got into her car and finally

dropped all her pretenses.

Her hands were shaking uncontrollably, and it took her three

tries to fasten her seatbelt.

In the rearview mirror, she saw her eyes were getting a little red.

Chapter 174

Charlotte left, and Madeleine’s disappointment was obvious.

She bit her straw, sipping her sparkling water.

“Why’d she leave? What happened to the Underworld you

promised?”

“You really love to watch the drama unfold, don’t you?”

Rebecca shook her head, leaning back and crossing her arms.

“You should probably think about how you’re going to explain this to your mom. This blind date, I don’t think it’s going to work

out.”
