The Heart Surgeon’s Last Patient Novel Chapter 141

Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 141

After waiting for a full two minutes, Rebecca started to think he

was writing a whole essay.

But all he sent was a short sentence.

Professor Shaw: You have other friends named Shaw?

Before Rebecca could process what he meant by that, he

unsent it, sent just an “Mm,” and ended the conversation.

Rebecca was completely baffled, unable to figure out what on

earth Adrian meant.

She turned her head and saw Madeleine with a wicked smile.

Outside a national biological laboratory, Adrian held the

protective suit he would change into in one hand and looked at

his phone with a serious expression.

His doctoral student looked over curiously.

“What’s wrong, Professor Shaw?

Did something happen?”

Chapter 141

Hearing this, Adrian finally turned off his phone.

When he looked up, his stern gaze had softened back to its

usual gentleness.

He shook his head. “It’s nothing.”

Then he asked, “Who’s taking the lab notes today?”

“Gabrielle, she’s already inside getting ready.”

“I thought it was Eleanor?”

“Oh, Eleanor said she’s having dinner with her family tonight, so

she swapped shifts with Gabrielle.”

Eleanor…

Adrian’s gaze shifted slightly. He nodded, said he understood,

and started to change into his protective suit.

Dinner with her family.

Why wear such a beautiful little black dress for that?

And sending the photo by mistake…

Something wasn’t right.

Chapter 141

and

Rebecca couldn’t figure out what Madeleine was up to,

when she heard Madeleine tell her not to worry, that she was

just one step away from victory, she furrowed her brow.

“Victory?

Not even close.”

What’s the use of just getting Adrian interested in me?

What she wanted was for Adrian to agree to join her family’s

company.

Tsk, if that old fossil wasn’t so rigid and unwilling to cooperate

with the company, would I have to make such a huge sacrifice?

Meanwhile, Owen was still lecturing Bradley. Bradley, who was

usually glib, could only pretend to be well–behaved in front of an

elder.

Whatever Owen said, he just chuckled, nodded, and then shot

looks at Roderick, Madeleine, and Rebecca, one by one, hoping

they would save him.

Unfortunately, all three of them were pretending not to see.

Chapter 141

Not until Madeleine’s stomach growled again.

Did Roderick finally break the stalemate.

“Dad, it’s time to eat.”

Owen was right in the middle of his speech and glanced at his

son, displeased.

“What’s the rush!”

“It’s not me who’s in a rush, Madeleine is pregnant, she can’t go

hungry.”

Only then did Owen snap out of it. He slapped his forehead and

said to Diane in a gentle tone.

“My fault, my fault. I got carried away talking. Here, let me get

you a bowl of soup.”

Big families have strict rules. Even though this was just a casual

family dinner, the younger generation still followed the principle

of not eating until the elders started.

Now that Owen had started, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Roderick immediately picked up Madeleine’s bowl to serve her.

Chapter 141

Bradley and Rebecca shared the same look of disdain. The

Livingston father and son had truly inherited the trait of doting

on their wives.

“Don’t you have eyes, Bradley? Get me a bowl.”

Bradley rolled his eyes at Rebecca. “If you’re so capable, find a

husband to serve you. Why are you ordering me around?”

Rebecca chuckled and slung an arm over Bradley’s shoulder.

“Sure, why don’t we just make do with each other?”

“Get lost!”

Watching from the side, Madeleine couldn’t help but laugh.

They were true friends, the kind who couldn’t stand to even look

at each other.

After dinner and hanging out for a while, everyone went their

separate ways.

Kevin was tired from playing and fell asleep in the car on the

way back. Madeleine dozed off as well.

In a daze, it seemed she was dreaming again.

Chapter 141

This time, her perspective shifted, and she saw herself in the

dream.

Was that… herself, right after graduating from college?

Madeleine, fresh out of school, still had a scholarly air. She

stood by the road, fiddling with the strap of her crossbody bag.

Hearing Roderick call her from behind, she turned her head,

annoyed.

“What took you so long!”

Roderick was full of youthful energy, running towards her with a

huge smile.

“Work has been busy. I just took over the company, so I couldn’t

leave early.”

“Oh… then I forgive you.”

Madeleine pouted, grabbed Roderick’s arm, and suddenly

started to hesitate.

Roderick lowered his head and gave her a quick peck on the

lips.

“What’s wrong, is my little princess angry?”

Chapter 141

Madeleine said in a low voice, “I heard you went to a party

yesterday. A lot of heiresses were hitting on you, huh?”

Roderick froze for a second, then realized she was jealous.
