Night Carved Paths Into Silence by Zyrel Ash 132
“Everything you do leaves a trace. Kev might not remember the
specifics of what you did, but that doesn’t mean you didn’t do
it.”
Nanette frowned as a thought struck her.
“Hypnosis?”
That had to be it.
Recreating the scene under hypnosis, to recall events that were
impossible to remember.
“Heh…” Once Nanette figured it out, a mocking smile played on
her lips.
“That’s rich. You go on and on about how I hurt Kevin, but
Madeleine, don’t you have any idea how painful hypnosis is for
a child?
How could you put him through that? Do you even deserve to
be a mother?!”
Madeleine remained expressionless.
Chapter 132
How could someone like Nanette ever understand the deep
bond she shared with Kev.
“You don’t deserve it! I was with him for two years, taking care
of him, guiding him, becoming the person he trusted! Do you
have any idea how much effort I put in?!”
“Why is it that the moment you show up, he doesn’t even see
me anymore? You did nothing, and you easily got everything I
ever dreamed of. It’s not fair!”
A vicious glint flashed in her eyes.
“It’s a shame you found out so soon. In another month, that kid
would’ve gone insane, and he would’ve never left my side for
the rest of his life. Then I…”
Slap!
Madeleine rose, walked up to her, and slapped her across the
face–it all happened in a flash!
So fast that even Mariah and Roderick didn’t have time to react.
Madeleine put all her strength into that slap. Nanette’s mouth
started bleeding, and her ears were ringing so much she
couldn’t hear anything for a while.
Chapter 132
Madeleine’s hand actually hurt this time. She shook her numb
hand.
“I hit you. You had that slap coming.”
Nanette came to her senses, her face full of shock.
“Madeleine, are you crazy? This is a detention center!”
Nanette gritted her teeth and started yelling.
Roderick and Mariah exchanged a look. Mariah gave a slight
nod, walked out, and came back in quickly.
From start to finish, no one else showed up.
Having worked in this field for so many years, how could Mariah
not have some connections?
She still had enough pull to let Madeleine get a slap in to blow
off some steam.
“Nanette, I didn’t come here today to get you to write some letter of forgiveness. I just wanted to tell you to your face that someone like you doesn’t deserve anyone’s love, and you certainly don’t deserve to be a psychologist.”
After saying that, Madeleine turned and left, her back looking

resolute and cold.
Roderick followed closely behind. Once Madeleine was in the
car, he said gently, “Wait for me a second, I left something
behind.”
After saying that, he turned around and went back inside.
When he came out again, his expression was calm, and the
frown on his brow had smoothed out.
Sometimes, you just need to use some conventional methods.
The next day, Madeleine received Nanette’s letter of
forgiveness.
She was curled up reading in the study when she heard the
news and jumped up at once.
“She actually wrote it?”
Madeleine ran to the desk, excitedly looking at Roderick, who
was busy on the other side.
Roderick had been working from home these past few days. With Madeleine keeping him company in the study, his work

went quite smoothly.
He raised an eyebrow now, looking at her with a half–smile.
“Ricki, why do you think Nanette suddenly agreed to write the
letter of forgiveness? She was so stubborn yesterday.”
“Maybe she saw the light.”
“Saw the light?
She wouldn’t repent that easily.”
Then her eyelid twitched. “Did you do something?”
Roderick put down his pen, leaned back in his chair, and
beckoned to Madeleine.
“Come over here and I’ll tell you.”
Madeleine didn’t hesitate. She walked around the desk to him
and propped herself up on it with her hands behind her.
She was dressed casually at home, wearing a gray and white
camisole with a shirt over it, and just a pair of denim shorts on
the bottom.
Now sitting on the desk, her two long, fair legs were swinging

back and forth.
The swinging made Roderick’s eyes feel dry.
“I’m here. Now tell me.”
Roderick’s eyes narrowed, revealing a hint of danger.
Before Madeleine could notice, he grabbed the desk with one
hand to pull his chair closer, while his other hand naturally
wrapped around her waist.
In a light movement, Madeleine was spun around and ended up
sitting sideways on Roderick’s lap.
“What are you doing!”
Madeleine cried out, hitting his shoulder and trying to get down.
“I told you to come over. What’s this about sitting on the desk?
You’re supposed to sit on my lap.”
