Silent Dreams Never Die — Author: John Miller 344
Every day, she would ask endless variations of the same question. “Does Daddy still love me?”
At first, Sabrina could handle it, but as time wore on, the constant neediness grated on her nerves. That was why she’d come out tonight–to find Vincent and get him to visit. Once he did, maybe Vanessa would finally stop pestering her.
Vincent hesitated. “Another time. I have something important to take care of tonight.”
Hearing his refusal, Sabrina wondered if he was genuinely upset.
But desperate to quiet Vanessa’s endless questions, she pressed on. “She won’t go to sleep, Vincent. She’s crying and carrying on, saying you don’t want her anymore.”
At those words, Vincent’s resolve wavered.
He told himself Scarlett was in the hospital–she wouldn’t starve. Besides, she had her family and friends.
After a moment’s internal debate, he finally relented. “Alright. Let’s go back now.”
A relieved smile spread across Sabrina’s face. “I knew you still cared about her,” she said softly.
Vincent didn’t reply. He simply turned and walked out of the bar, Sabrina following close behind, her hand lightly holding his sleeve.
In the parking lot, Vincent handed the car keys to Sabrina. “I’ve been drinking. You drive.”
Once they were in the car–Sabrina in the driver’s seat, Vincent in the passenger’s–he gave her a quick lesson on shifting and starting the engine.
Sabrina fumbled for a while before realizing the car’s safety system wouldn’t allow ignition unless the passenger’s seatbelt was fastened.
Knowing Vincent was tipsy, she leaned across him to buckle him in.
Unseen by them, a camera snapped a photo from a distance, capturing an image that looked far more intimate than the reality.
Once the engine finally turned over, Sabrina asked, “By the way, where were you heading
earlier?”
Vincent answered vaguely. “It doesn’t matter now. Let’s just go.”
Sabrina nodded. “I’m off tomorrow. Will you come shopping with me?”

The paparazzi photo was soon published, accompanied by a wildly exaggerated headline about the couple’s “deep, passionate love“.
When Scarlett came across the trending topic online, a fresh wave of pain shot through her, making sleep impossible.
Her body ached in a hundred different places, each bruise and cut a reminder of her helplessness.
Trying to distract herself, she scrolled further–past the news about Vincent and Sabrina with only a fleeting glance–until another headline caught her eye, this one about Claire.
“SHOCKING: Popular Food Vlogger Offers Herself as a ‘Bargaining Chip!”
Scarlett’s heart dropped. She clicked on the article, bracing for the worst.
But to her surprise, the
