Chapter 24
“Mr. Payne, all the clothing stores are over there. Are we… heading there now?” the mall manager asked cautiously.
“Everyone is tired. Buy some drinks over,” Lucian instructed.
The manager was baffled and fell silent for a moment. Then, he came back to his senses and replied, “Sure.”
Gripping the receipt tightly, Natalie withdrew her gaze from the computer screen.
It hadn’t been the first time Rowan brought Imogen here to buy jewelry, but those pieces merely cost a few million dollars.
She gave the sales assistant some tips and asked for all the receipts for the jewelry Rowan had bought for Imogen before this.
“Did that lady come to buy jewelry?” Lucian only went into the jewelry store after Natalie left.
“Well? Aren’t you going to answer Mr. Payne’s question?” the manager urged the sales assistant.
“She wasn’t here to buy jewelry, but to get receipts for her boss. She said those receipts were meant for reimbursement,” the sales assistant replied nervously. She didn’t know Lucian and only knew the mall manager.
“Show us the receipts,” the manager reminded.
The sales assistant showed all the receipts Natalie had gotten.
Carmen helped Natalie pick up Sarah and Roger from school. Natalie only arrived at her place after dealing with everything.
Upon seeing Natalie, Roger wouldn’t stop complaining, “How annoying. Why are you always late? What are you doing at home? Don’t come to pick me up anymore. I’ll ask Grandma to come.”
Natalie hailed a cab and let the two kids get inside.
“How could you speak like that to your mom? Do you want me to teach you a lesson?” Carmen was enraged by Roger’s attitude, and she felt the urge to teach him a hard lesson.
“Carmen.” Natalie stopped her. “Let him be… He can’t complain for long anyway.”
“Have you gotten the evidence?” Carmen asked gleefully as she tugged at Natalie’s arm.
“Yeah.” Natalie nodded. “But I might need your help to get the spending records of Rowan and Imogen when they were abroad.”
Carmen was the store manager of a luxury brand store. She always went abroad for business trips and had an extensive network there.
“Just tell me what you need me to do.” Carmen was always willing to help Natalie with anything.
For a few days, Rowan had been using the excuse that he had to work overtime, so he couldn’t go home. Natalie only got to meet him again after two weeks.
Noticing that the bedroom was dusty, Rowan rushed downstairs and threw a fit. “Natalie Cooper…”
Meanwhile, Natalie was sitting on the couch, working on a design draft. Upon hearing Rowan’s voice, she closed her laptop.
The boss of Lumiere Fashion was considerate. Natalie had requested to work on the design draft at home, and they had granted her permission to work from home as long as she could complete her tasks on time.
