Loomwood Galleries Framed Pilgrim Murals by Iris Vaughn 19
A tall man stood at the door, his face as grim as ice.
When Nina’s eyes met his, her pupils constricted slightly.
It was Sean.
The moment Sean saw Nina, his eyes filled with disbelief.
Jessica had told him Nina was already married, but he didn’t believe it.
Rumor had it that Nina married Zackery, but he had never seen their wedding with his own eyes.
So Sean had people look into it, and they said the Bronner family wanted Nina to rest for a while before holding the wedding.
So he decided to crash their wedding and ruin it.
But when Sean actually saw Nina in a wedding dress for another man, his chest felt like it was being sliced open. Waves of pain made his lips turn pale.
Nina was as beautiful as he had imagined, so bright and dazzling.
But what was different was that she wasn’t wearing a traditional wedding gown, but a Western wedding dress.
Sean didn’t quite understand, but when he saw the instant coldness in Nina’s eyes upon seeing him, he got it.
Nina was telling him that she had moved on.
The traditional wedding she once wanted to have with him–she didn’t like that idea anymore.
And what she wanted with this man was a Western–style wedding.
As the realization hit him, Sean’s breath hitched. He clenched the ring in his palm so tightly his knuckles turned white. Every breath felt like inhaling needles, the pain so intense he could barely stand.
He had lost the ring Nina made for him, so he had made a pair himself to make up for it.
Sean thought they would be their wedding rings.
But when he saw the huge diamond on her ring finger, he realized just how cheap the rings in his hand were.
Something in his eyes dimmed.
Security came to escort him out, but no matter how they pushed him, Sean wouldn’t budge.
He just stood there, stubbornly looking at Nina.

Sean refused to believe that Nina, who had loved him for so many years, could have no feelings left for him at all.
Zackery didn’t say a word, nor did Deegan and Helen.
They wanted to leave the decision of how to handle this to Nina; they completely respected her choice.
Nina turned to look at Zackery, who smiled dotingly. “Go on, Nina. I’ll be right here waiting for you.”
The anxiety Nina felt instantly vanished. She lifted the hem of her dress and walked step by step toward Sean, her face expressionless.
When Sean saw Nina walking toward him, he was overjoyed. He rushed in front of her and opened his hand, showing her the two rings in his palm.
He had been clenching them so hard that the edges of the rings had broken the skin on his palm.
Before, Nina would get frantic over even a small cut on him, but now, she remained expressionless.
Panic spread through him. He felt as if something incredibly important was slipping away from his life. Sean’s voice trembled, “Nina, these are the rings I made myself. I lost the one you gave me, and I wanted to make it up to you with these.”
Nina just looked at the man she had loved so deeply for years, and now, she thought he wasn’t so special after all.
She said flatly, “If you lost it, it means we weren’t meant to be. Why force it?”
Her words pierced Sean’s heart like a sharp blade, and all the color drained from his face.
But Sean stubbornly held out his hands. “I spent a long time making these rings. I hurt myself a few times. It really
hurt.”
This was the first time Sean had ever played the victim in front of Nina. All he wanted was for her to just look at the rings again.
Hearing this, Nina’s gaze followed his hands. As Sean watched with anticipation, she picked up the pair of rings, and then, tossed them away.
The rings tumbled through the air, then fell to the ground and disappeared from sight.
There were a lot of guests today, and the decorations were elaborate. A toss like that, and they were almost certainly lost for good.
This was Nina’s way of telling Sean that it was over between them.
Sean froze, staring at his empty palm. A sharp pain in his chest felt like it was going to tear him apart.
His fingers slowly curled into a fist before his hand dropped to his side.
He looked at Nina with determination. “If I find the rings, will you forgive me?”
