The Girl in the Shadows Novel Chapter 14

Loomwood Galleries Framed Pilgrim Murals by Iris Vaughn 14

The wedding began.

Sean was in a black suit, looking sharp and handsome.

He stood on the stage, waiting for the bride to walk toward him.

Looking at the romantic atmosphere, Sean zoned out for a moment.

If Nina were here, she would have loved this. She would have stood on her tiptoes and gently kissed his cheek.

She would have run around like a little butterfly, examining every detail of the wedding venue.

But Nina wasn’t here.

“Don’t move! Hands out!”

An angry shout drew everyone’s attention.

Several police officers in uniform cuffed Isabelle’s hands, their faces serious.

The people around them backed away, afraid of getting involved.

But some weren’t afraid and came closer to ask the police what was going on.

The officer said with a cold face, “The suspect is accused of intentional homicide. We need to arrest her.”

A gasp went through the crowd. “Oh my god! How could someone as fragile as Isabelle kill someone?”

Sean, who was striding toward Isabelle, froze for a few seconds when he heard that.

That’s right, how could Isabelle possibly kill someone?

Jessica, sitting not far away, slowly stood up and walked over, a mocking look on her face.

“I bet none of you knew, right? This Isabelle has a congenital heart defect, and to save herself, she had the heart of a girl from an orphanage dug out. A living, breathing person.”

Everyone looked to the police for confirmation. The officers didn’t confirm or deny it, but their expressions remained serious.

Seeing that, everyone understood what was going on.

“Oh, and this Isabelle also framed Nina several times. You know, opening her own window in the middle of the night to get a fever, switching her own medicine…”

The Isabelle Jessica described was completely different from the one everyone knew, and they all started chattering

At that moment, Isabelle never imagined that the things she had done would be exposed in front of everyone like this.

Sean was stunned, his expression full of disbelief. He grabbed Isabelle’s arm, “Tell me you didn’t do it. Say it!”

He couldn’t believe the woman he remembered as so fragile could have turned into this.

But her only response was to avoid his gaze.

The ring box in Sean’s hand fell heavily to the ground with a thud..

Isabelle was taken away.

But just as she was about to be led out the door, she frantically broke free from the police, stumbled toward Sean, and threw her arms around him.

“I did all of this for you! I don’t want to die. Is it wrong that I want to be with you?”

Her voice was hoarse, and with tears welling in her eyes, Isabelle looked pleadingly at Sean.

But this time, Sean didn’t return her embrace.

He just watched as the police led her away, his eyes vacant.

Isabelle had become a joke, but wasn’t Sean one too?

The pain in Sean’s heart was so intense he could barely breathe. Guilt and regret instantly overwhelmed him.

“Nina, I’m sorry.”

Jessica stood at the wedding venue, watching the guests leave one by one, her heart filled with mixed emotions.

If Nina were here, she would have been able to see what happened to the person who bullied her.

Sean slowly looked up, his eyes meeting Jessica’s.

Jessica smirked, picked up a glass of wine, and threw it in Sean’s face.

The cold liquid ran down his cheeks and into his collar, and the sticky feeling made Sean frown.

“What are you doing?”

Jessica clapped her hands and said casually, “I’m splashing you.”

The people who hadn’t left yet noticed the scene and started taking pictures with their phones.

“Hey, look! Jessica just threw wine on Sean!”

A wave of shame washed over him, and Sean clenched his fists tightly.

But after a moment, his fists slowly unclenched.

This was Nina’s sister.

After all this time, he thought Nina would come back to him, but he was wrong.

It was as if Nina had vanished into thin air, completely disappearing from his world.

“Where did Nina go?”

Jessica was almost impressed by Sean’s nerve, asking where Nina went at a time like this.

She said bluntly, “When you pulled out all her fingernails, did you ever wonder where she might go?”

“When you destroyed her mother’s heirlooms, did you ever wonder where she might go?”

Those two sentences pierced Sean’s heart like a knife, and his face instantly went pale.

He watched helplessly as Jessica walked away, a sense of powerlessness washing over him.

“Oh, by the way.”

Jessica reached the doorway and suddenly added.
