The Comeback Queen’s Crown Novel Chapter 369

When Time Tried to Heal Me But I Refused to Listen by Kael Niro Senn 369

Chapter 369 Want to Move Back?

Kindness? Danielle scoffed. To her, it was just another word for being weak.

Taking a deep breath, she continued waiting outside Justin’s villa.

She believed he would return.

There was no way she’d let Justin marry Adriana.

Barton Estate.

Adriana sat by the window, silently watching butterflies drift through the garden.

Curtis couldn’t come back with her. The Barton Estate was a mess+too many eyes and ears everywhere.

She missed Curtis. After losing her grandfather, she kept wishing she could be with Curtis openly, that he could hold her, even for a second.

She inhaled deeply, rested against the windowsill, and saw Justin’s car pull in.

“Danielle has been waiting outside Justin’s place this whole time,” Kenneth whispered. “People in Barton Group are still paying close attention. Right now, Danielle isn’t just fighting you in the design competition -she’s also fighting you over Justin.”

Adriana had asked him to track Danielle’s every move.

She picked up a handful of millet and scattered it on the sill, smiling as sparrows hopped closer. “Danielle is extremely arrogant. Her aloof act is just a cover for her insecurity/She’s never truly been confident. For years, she’s had people keeping tabs on me in Pastalia. The more she learns about what I can do, the more threatened she feels. So if she wants to beat me this time, she won’t rely on her own design. She’ll steal mine.”

To make sure she won, Danielle would use the drafts Cheryl had stolen for her in Pastalia.

If Danielle dared to plagiarize, Adriana would seize the opportunity to destroy her completely in the design world.

She wouldn’t let Danielle ever climb back up.

Kenneth looked at Adriana and quietly took a breath. Who said Adriana was some harmless bunny?

Once she struck, it would be deadly.

Before, Kenneth never fully understood why Adriana didn’t fight back in college when Mia and the others went after her.

Later, he realized Adriana understood timing and risk far better than most people. It wasn’t that she was afraid to resist—she knew the gap between herself and Mia’s group. Fighting back too early would only

hurt her more.

So she chose to endure.

Someone who could endure years of bullying would be far more ruthless once they finally fought back.

“When Danielle has nowhere left to go in the design world, she’ll put all her hopes on that man, Adriana said, watching Justin step out of the car, her gaze turning icy.

Chandler killed her parents, and Danielle benefited from it. Adriana wouldn’t let either of them off.

She’d take her time.

If she wanted them in hell, she’d make them suffer slowly.

“Mrs. Lincoln, do you not trust Justin?” Kenneth asked softly,

Adriana shook her head. It wasn’t about trust. It was about not relying on him.

No one could be trusted forever. The only thing she could truly rely on was her ability.

No matter the reason, Justin would leave Barton Group someday. If Adriana wanted everything to fall into place, it might hurt some of his interests.

As Adriana walked out, Arthur reported softly, “Ms. Barton, you should spend more time with Mr. Justin. Do your best to keep him close. It would be best if he moved back.”

They wanted Adriana and Justin to present a perfect, loving image.

It would benefit both Adriana and the Barton Group’s internal stability.

Adriana nodded. When Justin walked in, she smiled. “Grandpa just passed. This house feels too quiet with only me here. Do you want to move back?”

He looked at her and understood right away. In the early stages, she needed to use him to shape public perception and stabilize Barton Group.

Honestly, Justin was sharp. He was also watching to see if Adriana truly had what it took to be someone he could support for life.

“Sure,” he replied with a smile.

If he agreed to move back, Danielle would lose her cool.

A person’s energy was limited. If Danielle panicked over this, she wouldn’t have enough focus left to create a brand–new design for the competition.

Adriana wanted a guaranteed win.

She had to win.

Once the news spread that Adriana had kept Justin at the Barton Estate, several people couldn’t stay calm.

Savannah and Danielle both panicked, afraid Justin might marry Adriana.

Curtis blew up as well.

Justin, meanwhile, calmly ate dinner, playing the role of a caring sibling with Adriana, while his phone buzzed nonstop.

With a pleasant smile, Justin simply turned it off, leaving Curtis anxious on the other end.

Justin knew Curtis was already in Harborton.

With Jeremy gone, there was no way Curtis would feel safe leaving Adriana alone there.

When Justin shut his phone off, Curtis had no choice but to call Adriana.

She glanced at the screen and was about to answer when Justin pressed her hand with a grin. “Have some warm milk.”

To the servants, that small gesture looked intimate–almost deliberately suggestive.
