Adriana smiled faintly. “Is that so? Looks like you still haven’t given up.”
Just then, the emergency room doors opened, and a nurse stepped out.
Everyone turned, and reporters raised their cameras.
Adriana felt nervous. She knew Jeremy didn’t have much time left, but he was still her grandfather. Even a few more moments, a few words with him, could mean everything.
“Ms. Adriana, Mr. Barton wants to see you and Mr. Justin,” the nurse said, looking toward Justin.
Adriana took a deep breath and followed Justin toward the emergency room.
“The company’s senior executives and core members may also come in,” the nurse added. “Mr. Barton wants to see you all as well.”
Danielle turned around in a panic and glanced at Chandler, who was still on the phone. She tried to follow, but the nurse stopped her.
“Sorry, Ms. Barton,” the nurse said coolly. “Mr. Barton doesn’t wish to see you or Mr. Chandler.”
Right there, in front of the reporters, Danielle completely lost face.
Not only was Jeremy not dead, but he had called everyone in, except her and Chandler. To the media, that was already a very clear signal.
Jeremy wasn’t leaving anything for them.
Danielle clenched her fists until her knuckles turned white. She shouted toward the emergency room in frustration, “Grandpa! I’m your granddaughter, too! How can you be so cruel? Why are you so unfair to me?!”
She couldn’t accept it. So what if Adriana was Nicole? She was still Jeremy’s granddaughter!
What had she done wrong? Why couldn’t she inherit the Barton fortune?
Danielle and Chandler remained stuck outside. They were unable to go in, but they couldn’t leave.
