Adriana was upset.

She looked at Denton in annoyance. “Can you please not sit next to me?”

Denton looked hurt, like a little puppy wounded for no reason. He hesitated before speaking. “If I sit anywhere else, Nicole will follow me right away. I don’t like her.”

Adriana took a deep breath. So he was using her as his shield.

She didn’t reply. Instead, during the second period, she switched seats.

Denton looked even more upset. When Nicole tried to sit beside him, he jumped up immediately, hugging his books, and tried to sit next to Adriana again.

To stop him, Adriana moved and sat separately from Yolanda, leaving one empty seat between them. That way, there was no space left for Denton in their row.

Yolanda glanced at the boy. She didn’t understand why Adriana was so against him. The kid was actually kind of handsome. He even looked a little like Curtis.

But she didn’t ask.

Denton stood there, holding his books, looking wronged. “Adriana, can I sit between you and Yolanda?”

Adriana almost laughed in disbelief. He wanted the middle seat now?

Nicole slammed her hand on the desk and stood up in irritation. “Denton! What’s your problem? Are you aware of what might be beneficial for you? Sitting next to me will benefits you!”

Denton looked at her calmly. “Sorry. All I see are the downsides. You’re too loud. I can’t focus on my studies.”

Yolanda couldn’t help but laugh. This little pup had some bite in him.

She leaned back in her chair and raised an eyebrow. “You want to sit between us? Alright. I’m thirsty. I want bubble tea from the shop across the street.”

She checked her watch. “Class starts in ten minutes. If you can bring back two cups before the bell rings, I’ll let you sit in the middle.”

Denton’s eyes lit up. He placed his textbook between Adriana and Yolanda, then turned and ran out of the classroom. He really went to buy it.

Yolanda froze. “This kid takes things so seriously. I was just messing with him.”

Adriana also realized there wasn’t even a bubble tea shop across the street. The nearest one was two blocks away. There was no way he could make it back in ten minutes.

And Denton probably didn’t even know what bubble tea was.

Sure enough, class started, and Denton still wasn’t back.

Adriana started to feel guilty.

That kid loved studying so much.

Half the class had already passed when Denton finally returned.

Luckily, the lecturer was in the restroom, so he slipped in easily.

He was wearing a simple tank top, and his sun–kissed skin was covered in sweat.

Denton clearly grew up working hard. His muscles were strong, and the sweat made him look bright, healthy, and full of energy.

“Here. Your bubble tea,” he said shyly, placing it on Yolanda’s desk. He was still catching his breath.

Yolanda just stared at him. This was the first time she was actually shocked by a boy.

After a moment, she stood up and let Denton sit between her and Adriana.

This kid was obedient to the point of being too much.

“How far had you run to get these?” Yolanda asked.

Denton gave a goofy smile. “Not far. Just two blocks”

Yolanda said nothing and went back to her book.

Denton listened seriously, but because he missed the first half, he was a bit lost with the grammar lesson.

Yolanda glanced at him, then quietly pushed her notebook toward him. “These are the key points. Copy them.”

Denton grinned, showing his little sunlit canine tooth–a smile full of pure, bright, boyish charm.

Yolanda paused for a moment.

She had always been drawn to many types of men–mature ones, steady ones–but never the kind like Denton. He simply wasn’t her type.

She only liked successful men.

And Denton was too green. He just started out.

The whole day of classes left Adriana in a bad mood. Nicole sat behind her, mumbling nonstop, refusing to study, and disturbing her every chance she got.

And next to her sat a ticking time bomb. Denton.

Frustrated, Adriana texted Curtis. “Denton is sitting right next to me. Harold put him in the international class. Probably wants to polish his resume so he can return from abroad and fight you for the inheritance.”

She even sent an angry emoji.

Curtis replied quickly, “Focus on your studies. Don’t let it get to you.”

Adriana answered, “Okay.”

After school, Nicole got picked up early by her driver. Denton left on an old mountain bike; no idea where

you, sister-in–law.” he even found that thing, but before leaving, he still waved at Adriana. “See

Yolanda tilted her head. “Why does he call you that?”

“He’s Michael’s son from another family. Harold wants to bring him back to inherit the company,” Adriana said honestly.

If Yolanda really only cared about power and status, the future CEO of Lincoln Group would be a big deal to her. By telling her Denton’s true identity, Adriana had basically opened the door for Yolanda to chase him, if she wanted to.
