Billionaire Grandpa’s Secret Weapo Novel Chapter 7

The Sky Waited for Answers by Orin Flux 7

Three days later, three black sedans pulled up outside our building.

I didn’t find out about this until later.

I was in class at the time, and Marcus had told me not to go home–said he was worried the situation might get out of hand.

Afterward, Marcus showed me footage from the scene.

One of his associates had recorded it on his phone.

In the video, when Dad opened the door, his face was still confused.

“Who are you?”

“Mr. Steven Calloway? We’re the legal team from Apex Legal Group. This is our letter of representation and formal notice.”

Marcus handed him the documents.

Dad took them, glanced down, and his face changed.

“What is this?”

“We represent Miss Renee Calloway regarding the unlawful transfer of assets under her name. We’re here to discuss the matter with you and the other parties involved.”

Melinda came out from inside. When she saw the scene, her face went pale too.

“Who sent you?”

“Mr. Hartley,” Marcus said calmly. “Miss Renee Calloway’s grandfather.”

Melinda froze. She turned to Dad. “Steve, what does your father–in–law do?”

Dad didn’t say anything.

Of course he knew what Grandpa did.

When Mom was alive, she’d told him.

Grandpa had served in the military when he was younger, then worked in New York after his discharge.

He was retired now, but his connections were still there.

It was just that in the years since Mom died–since I hadn’t been in touch with Grandpa–they’d probably assumed he wouldn’t

“Please, come in,” Marcus said, stepping toward the door.

“Some things are better discussed face to face.”

In the footage, Dad and Melinda were ushered into the living room.

Bryson wasn’t home–apparently out “handling business.”

“Steve, are you just gonna let them bully us like this?” Melinda’s voice went shrill. “You agreed to transfer that house! You agreed to invest that money!”

Marcus looked at Dads

“Mr. Calloway, were you aware that the signature on the transfer documents was forged?”

Dad opened his mouth. Nothing came out,

“Were you aware that Stellar Wealth Management is a shell company?”

Still nothing.

“Steve!” Melinda snapped, “Say something!”

Finally, Dad spoke, “I… I didn’t know the signature was fake…”

“Do you know where the eight hundred thousand went?”

“Bryson said it was an investment…”

“An investment in what?”

Dad went silent.

Marcus sighed.

“Mr. Calloway, I’ll ask you one more time. Were you aware of and complicit in these actions?”

Dad kept his head down. Didn’t answer.

“If you were deceived, we can remove you from the list of liable parties. But you’ll need to cooperate with the investigation and provide

evidence.”

Melinda suddenly stood up:

“Who do you think you are, coming into our home like this? This is a family matter. It’s none of your business!”

“Mrs. Cash,” Marcus looked up at her:

“Unlawful transfer of assets and forgery are both criminal offenses. If you refuse to cooperate, we’ll have no choice but to involve the police.”

Melinda froze.

“We’re currently investigating whether there were any irregularities in those two cases. If necessary, we’ll forward the matter to ter

Dad looked up at Melinda, expression unreadable,

“Melinda, is this true?”

“Steve, let me explain~”

“Explain what?” Dad’s voice suddenly got louder. “You lied to me?”

“I didn’t! That was all in the past!”

“In the past? And what about what you’re doing now? Renee’s house, Renee’s money–you said it was all for this family!”

“It’s just a house! It’s just money!” Melinda shrieked. “What’s your daughter gonna do with all that? My son needs it! This family needs it!”

“That was left to her by her mother!”

“Her mother’s been dead for three years!”

The room went silent.

Dad stared at Melinda.

The light in his eyes slowly went out.
