Chapter 5

Over the next month, Tristan started his long, brutal treatment.

The heavy-duty antiretroviral drugs hit him hard.

He threw up constantly, dizzy all the time, and withered away fast.

The confident man he used to be? Gone.

And I stayed by his side the whole time, twenty-four seven, taking care of everything.

I played the devoted wife, the one who’d never leave.

My dedication made him feel like absolute garbage.

One night, he grabbed my hand and broke down crying.

“Babe, I’m so sorry. I’m a piece of shit.”

“I was out of my mind. That woman played me like a fool. I’m scum. I deserve to die.”

“Now I finally see-you’re the only one who’s ever really cared about me.”

I smiled, wiped his tears, my voice soft and gentle.

“We’ve been through so much together. There’s no way I’d walk away over this.”

“You were just confused. You got set up. What matters now is getting better.”

In his guilt, he confessed everything.

All these years, he’d been sending Ivy money under different excuses. Hundreds of transfers.

That million? Just the tip of the iceberg.

Penthouse behind my back.

He’d even bought her a luxury

Cars. Jewelry. Worth over a hundred million.

The more he talked, the more worked up he got, coughing nonstop.

“That bitch knew she was sick and still came after me. I’m calling the cops.”

Chapter 5

“I’m making her give back everything. I want her to pay!”

I calmed him down and helped him gather all the evidence.

But Ivy had vanished the second everything blew up.

Police couldn’t track her down.

Still, through legal channels, we managed to recover the house and some assets.

Maybe out of guilt, Tristan transferred all his company shares and assets to me.

I looked at the signed documents. My heart was racing.

But my face stayed calm.

“Babe, I don’t want any of this. I just want you healthy.”

“I’ll keep your HIV status a secret. We’ll go back to how things were. We’ll plan our future together.”

He was overwhelmed with gratitude.

He held me tight, sobbing uncontrollably.

But he didn’t know-

I never wanted him dead.

I wanted him to taste despair first.

Then give him a sliver of hope, and watch him cling to that hope.

As he fell, piece by piece, into a pit he’d never crawl out of.

Six months later, Tristan’s health stabilized.

His viral load dropped to almost nothing, barely contagious.

I still stayed cautious-regular checkups, zero risks.

After discharge, he tried to get back to normal, slowly retaking control of the company.

We told everyone he’d taken time off for burnout.

Life got back on track. Tristan relaxed.

Chapter 5

Like the whole nightmare was over, and I was the light at the end of it.

One day, Tristan had an important international video call.

Before the meeting, he asked me to tidy up his study.

I smiled. “Sure.”

Then I deliberately took out his HIV meds and placed them in a corner. Just visible enough.

When I was done, I slipped out of the study quietly.
