I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 81
Chapter 81
Vivian had never been to Maplewood Club before, but she had heard plenty of rumors about it. It was said to be a place reserved exclusively for Baymoor’s wealthy and powerful men. It was a place built purely for indulgence. Even the staff at the front desk were all strikingly beautiful.
The moment Vivian stepped inside, several attendants approached her with smiles. After she gave them the private room number, the smile on the attendant’s face changed. Still, the attendant maintained a professional smile as she led Vivian upstairs.
When they exited the elevator, Vivian stepped onto the thick, high–quality carpet and felt her heart tighten.
The attendant walked ahead and knocked on the door. Standing beside the attendant, Vivian suddenly felt that the bag of cash in her hand grew heavier. A thin layer of sweat formed in her palm.
The small screen by the door lit up. It was obvious that someone inside was watching them. A few seconds later, the door opened just a crack. No light spilled out at all, indicating that the
room inside was dark.
The attendant smiled politely. “Enjoy your time.”
With that, the attendant turned and left. As she walked away, she cast Vivian a look tinged
with faint disdain.
Vivian’s expression stiffened, and instinctively, she took a few steps backward. Before she could retreat further, the door was suddenly flung open. A tattoo–covered arm shot out, grabbing her wrist and yanking her forward.
“Trying to run?” barked the man, his voice rough and heavy.
Vivian’s heart skipped a beat. Just as she was about to be dragged inside, the door behind her burst open. A hand seized her arm and forcefully pulled her back, pulling her free from the man’s grip.
She stumbled straight into a warm embrace. A faint scent surrounded her, and for reasons she couldn’t explain, she calmed down.
Inside the room, realizing that things had gone wrong, someone reacted quickly and tried to slam the door shut. At the very last second, Theo lunged forward and kicked the door open with all his strength.
Several well–trained bodyguards rushed in with Theo. It was only after the men inside were

completely subdued that Vivian stepped into the room alongside Kingston.

Five burly men were pinned to the floor by Kingston’s men. The smell of scented oil meant to heighten excitement filled the room, and the men were visibly overstimulated.
At a glance, Vivian recognized the man who had reached out to grab her earlier. He was still struggling on the floor, glaring defiantly at Kingston. His eyes were an unhealthy shade of red.
The man snarled, “How dare you ruin our fun? Do you even want to survive in Baymoor?”
Kingston stood before him, looking down indifferently. It was as though he was staring at an
insect. He replied, “I would really like to know who it is that thinks they can make things difficult for me in Baymoor.”
The man spat a mouthful of blood and laughed coldly. “If I say it, you’ll piss yourself in fear!”
Theo had been enjoying a rare day off and was still wearing flip–flops when he was urgently
called over. Seeing the man still acting so arrogant despite being pinned down, he pulled off
one flip–flop and slapped the man across the face with it.
“I want to see you scare me!” Theo enunciated each word through clenched teeth.
The man’s face quickly swelled. Stammering, he finally muttered a name.
Theo stopped hitting the man. Even doubting his own ears, he asked, “Who did you say?”
Seeing Theo’s stunned expression, the man grinned through his swollen lips. He questioned, Scared now, aren’t you? The person backing us is Kingston! Offend the Howard family, and you won’t survive anywhere in this country, let alone Baymoor!
“Leave this bitch behind and get lost. We’ll pretend we never saw you.‘
”
The room fell into dead silence. Everyone instinctively turned to look at Kingston. Even Vivian
was stunned for a brief moment.
