I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up Chapter 76

I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 76

Chapter 76

Logan shoved aside everyone trying to stop him and slumped onto the couch, drinking alcohol.

Seeing that he had finally calmed down, everyone else quietly let out a sigh of relief. One by one, they gathered around him, urging him not to take Zane’s words to heart.

Logan’s expression remained dark. He didn’t respond. After finishing an entire bottle, he grabbed his suit jacket from the side and said in a low voice, “I’m leaving.”

No one tried to stop him. They simply forced a few smiles and walked Logan out. Jack was waiting in the car. When Jack saw Logan come out, he quickly got out and opened the door to

the backseat.

Surrounded by his so–called friends, Logan got into the car. Once the door closed, Jack

returned to the driver’s seat. He glanced at Logan’s pale face in the backseat. After a while of hesitation, he finally said, “Mr. Whitfield, Ms. Hartwell canceled the pre–wedding dinner today.”

Logan panicked. Forgetting all about giving Vivian the cold shoulder, he pulled out his phone and gave her a call. This time, she answered. She asked, “What is it?”

Her cold voice came through the phone. That calm tone eased his nerves just a bit. He said, “I heard that you canceled the pre–wedding dinner. Why didn’t you discuss it with me first?”

He lowered his voice, afraid that she might hear that he was nervous. On the other hand, she seemed to be in quite a good mood. She answered him patiently.

She said, “The pre–wedding dinner was originally arranged by my grandmother. Now that she has passed away and I don’t know most of the guests, I canceled it and decided to handle everything on the wedding day instead. I’ve already informed the guests. If they want to come, they’re welcome. If not, that’s fine too.”

Hearing Vivian’s explanation, Logan finally relaxed. He stated, “This is a big decision. You

should have talked to me about it.”

Vivian replied, “Aren’t you busy with work? Since it was something I could decide on my own, I didn’t want to bother you.”

Logan fell silent. He hadn’t been busy at all. In fact, just to spite her, he had been hanging out with Zane and the others nonstop. The news should have reached her long ago. Yet, she didn’t

care at all.

The momentary relief Logan had felt vanished. It was replaced by an uncomfortable weight.

Chapter 76

He mumbled, “Vivian, I’m sorry. I…”

Before Logan could finish, Vivian cut him off. “Verbal apologies don’t cancel out guilt. If you truly feel sorry, why don’t you wire me a large sum of money?”

The insurance company had already contacted her. Aside from what insurance would cover, she still had nearly a million dollars to pay out of pocket for repairs.

Because Vivian always mentioned money and interests, it made Logan irritated. He said through gritted teeth, “Vivian, is money all you see now? Do you really think money can fix everything, including what’s wrong between us?”

Logan couldn’t accept Vivian putting money and interests first. He wanted her to be like before, focusing only on him.

Vivian asked, “How can our relationship even be compared to money and interests?”

It couldn’t even come close. Seven years of feelings could rot and change, but money never would. There was still a gap to fill in Hartwell Group’s finances.

So, at this moment, Vivian’s eyes indeed held nothing but money. If she could return to Durmont with a large sum and rebuild Hartwell Group’s former glory alongside Camille, at least those seven years wouldn’t feel like a total loss.

Logan felt slightly reassured. “Vivi, I swear, once we’re married, I’ll treat you twice as well as before. I’ll never let you feel sad or wronged again.”

“So, are you going to transfer the money?” Vivian asked.
