I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 66

Chapter 66

Vivian followed the receptionist into Kingston’s office.

She thought Kingston would still be half–asleep, but there he was, fully suited and seated at his desk, concentrating on his work.

He lifted his gaze lazily toward her. “So, you’re here.”

Vivian gave a small nod. “Good morning, Mr. Howard.”

Kingston gave a slight nod and glanced at the chair across from him, casually setting down the file in his hands. “Have a seat.”

Without a second thought, Vivian pulled out the chair and sat down.

Kingston reached for the contract he had prepared earlier and pushed it toward her. “Take a look first.”

Vivian took the contract in both hands and started flipping through it.

Kingston added, “If everything looks good, we can also send you an electronic version.”

Vivian’s eyes lit up. “Let’s go with the electronic version, then. I’ll pick up the paper copy another day.”

Logan was still waiting downstairs. He was probably eager to see the contract’s contents. She had been worrying about how to handle him once she went downstairs, but Kingston’s offer instantly solved the problem.

“Good,” Kingston replied.

After scanning the main clauses and confirming the amounts were correct, Vivian indicated she was ready to sign.

The future of Whitfield Group was no longer her concern. Whatever Kingston intended to do with it was not her business.

Kingston instructed the legal department to send over the electronic copy of the contract.

Once Vivian verified that the digital version matched the paper one exactly, she prepared to sign.

Before putting pen to paper, she lifted her gaze to him, hesitating slightly. “Mr. Howard, would it be possible for your team to move into Whitfield Group six days later? I still have some matters to wrap up–it should take about six days.”

Kingston nodded. “That’s fine.”

Six days were hardly enough to affect the Howard Group.

Vivian put her signature down without a second thought.

As she started to sign, Kingston interrupted, “Once you sign, there’s no turning back.”

Vivian’s hand didn’t falter. She signed cleanly and said, “I never expected to have any regrets from the moment I came to discuss this acquisition.”

Kingston raised a brow as he received the completed contract.

He remained silent and called over the finance team. Right there, they completed the transfer

to her account.

Vivian smiled as the deposit hit her account. “Thank you, Mr. Howard.”

With the business wrapped up, the only thing on her agenda in the days ahead was getting the wedding ready.

Kingston added, “If you really want to thank me, then put on a good show.”

His dark eyes bored into her, as if he could see through every single plan she had.

Vivian didn’t hide anything from him. “Of course. I just hope that you won’t laugh at me.”

Kingston gave her a sidelong glance and said slowly, “I can’t promise anything. What if it’s just too funny?”

Vivian froze for a moment.

He really did want to see her embarrassed. And there was nothing she could do about it.

When he caught the subtle flush in her cheeks, he stopped teasing her and turned his attention

back to the documents on his desk.

Vivian stood up instinctively and said, “Mr. Howard, I know you’re busy. I’ll take my leave.”
