I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 64
Chapter 64
Vivian waited for about half an hour, but Kingston never responded, which only confirmed her suspicions. Then again, it made sense.
She didn’t bother sending him another message. She set her phone aside and went straight to bed.
Without Kingston interrupting her, her mind no longer churned with messy thoughts about Logan, and she drifted off to sleep quickly.
The next morning, Vivian got up and went through her routine. Logan’s call came through.
She glanced at the screen and answered.
“Vivi, I got drunk last night. I didn’t do anything out of line, did I?”
He had woken up to find Sloane lying next to him and broke into a cold sweat. He had drunk a little too much last night, and parts of his memory were hazy. All he remembered was that he and Vivian had seen Kingston off. The rest was a blur.
Vivian replied, “Who knows? I can’t be watching you every second, can I? Why don’t you call someone else and ask?”
Logan fell silent.
Vivian set her phone aside and went back to what she was doing. He didn’t speak, and she didn’t either.
After what felt like an eternity, long enough for Vivian to think Logan had hung up, he finally broke the silence.
“Vivi, are you going to meet Mr. Howard today to sign the contract? I’ll go with you. I’ll come pick you up right away.”
Vivian let out a cold laugh. “Weren’t you drunk enough to blackout? How do you remember all these details so clearly?”
Logan froze for a moment at her words, then continued, “You finally managed to secure the cooperation with Howard Group. Of course, I wouldn’t forget. I’ll go with you. You haven’t been at the company for six months, and you’re not familiar with the business. I’m worried-”
Vivian cut him off. “Worried? When you were running your mouth in front of Mr. Howard last night, I didn’t see any of that worry.”

She couldn’t let Logan go with her, so she took the lead. “Logan, the one who should be worried is me. You nearly ruined everything last night. This cooperation with Howard Group is
a turning point for both of us. I don’t need your help. Just don’t cause any trouble.”
“Vivi-”
Vivian hung up without giving him a chance to speak.
After getting her makeup done and changing, she stepped out of the house.
Before getting into the car, she checked her social apps. Kingston hadn’t replied to her messages from last night. Maybe he was still asleep.
The thought that the system had played better than he did made her smile.
She drove to the Howard Group branch. Before she even parked, she saw Logan’s car already
there.
Vivian’s expression darkened as she tightened her grip on the steering wheel.
When Logan spotted her, he immediately got out of his car and walked over. Vivian took a deep breath and parked.
Logan stood next to her car with a smile, holding the door open for her. “Vivi, I’ll go up with you and apologize to Mr. Howard. I really drank too much last night and don’t remember what
I said.”
Vivian glanced at the hastily packed gift box in his hand and frowned. “Logan, if you didn’t
want to handle this deal, just say so. Do you even know who Mr. Howard is? This small gift is embarrassing. After all these years, you still can’t drop the bad habits you learned from your mother.”
Logan flinched at her blatant disdain. He gripped the gift box so tightly that the veins on his hand stood out. “Vivi, it was a last–minute gift. It can’t compare to something prepared ahead of time. Even if you don’t like it, don’t drag my mom into this. She raised me on her own. It wasn’t easy, so-”
Vivian interrupted, “So, that’s the reason you had your mom pick out those cheap mixed- metal pieces for our wedding?”
