I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 63

Chapter 63

She quickly typed out a line of text and sent it, then blocked Sloane entirely. When Sloane saw Vivian’s reply, she drew in a deep, frustrated breath. She quickly typed a lengthy message, yet when she sent it, the system informed her that it had been rejected.

Sloane’s pent–up anger boiled over. Logan’s drunken calls of “Vivi” only made it worse, leaving her struggling to breathe.

A dull ache gnawed at her stomach, and she forced herself to take several deep breaths. Nothing could happen to her child. That was the only thing giving her the edge in her battle with Vivian.

Meanwhile, Vivian was wide awake, thoroughly disturbed by Sloane’s message. She closed her eyes and silently counted sheep over and over, but the more she counted, the clearer her mind

became.

Then her phone buzzed again, and her patience finally snapped.

Sloane just wouldn’t give up. Even though she’d been blocked, she still managed to send a message from another number.

Vivian frowned and picked up her phone. When she opened it, it wasn’t Sloane–Kingston had sent her a game invite.

Vivian froze, surprised he was still awake and playing games. His skills were lackluster even when sober, and after all the alcohol tonight, they were only worse. But since he had sent her an invite, she couldn’t simply ignore it.

Vivian typed, “Mr. Howard, no work scheduled for tomorrow?”

Kingston replied quickly, “Nothing special tomorrow. Want to start a round?”

Vivian asked, “You drank quite a bit tonight. Can you even hold your phone steady?”

Kingston sent a sticker of a frustrated dog digging into the ground.

Vivian blinked. Could he really be so unlike himself? He even used a sticker.

The next second, he retracted it and typed, “Are you coming or not?”

From those simple words, Vivian could sense just how impatient Kingston was. She typed back, “I need to download it first.”

She hadn’t had any game apps on her phone for years.

Kingston replied, “I’ll wait.”

Vivian opened the game interface to start the download. While it was updating, she sent him another message. “It’ll take roughly ten minutes to download and install the update.”

Kingston replied with a simple, “Okay.”

Vivian hesitated for a moment, then typed, “Why don’t you play one round first? I’ll join once the download’s finished.”

Kingston replied, “Fine.”

She scrolled through some financial news while waiting. When the game finished downloading and updating, she logged in.

Since she was already friends with Kingston on the platform, she didn’t need to add him again in–game.

When Vivian noticed he was playing, she switched to spectator mode and saw Kingston pick his usual long–range marksman.

After more than ten minutes, both teams were developing well, and the match had entered a fierce, intense phase.

However, Kingston’s play was noticeably sharper than she remembered.

Vivian watched in silence until the game ended.

Kingston’s team emerged victorious.

Vivian created a room and sent him an invite. She tried twice, but there was no response.

Frustrated, Vivian exited the game and sent him a message. “Mr. Howard, are you coming back?”

There was no reply.

“Mr. Howard, did you fall asleep?”

Still nothing. Vivian sat there, staring at her screen in disbelief.

She couldn’t resist teasing him. “Mr. Howard, you didn’t fall asleep and let the system handle that last match, did you?”
