I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 62
Chapter 62
Those were not the kind of problems an assistant should be worrying about.
After a brief pause, Jack let out a soft sigh. “Mr. Whitfield, why don’t I take you to the hotel you usually stay at?”
Logan sounded slightly annoyed. “I have a home. Why would I stay at a hotel?”
Jack froze. He wanted a hotel when he had a home, and now that he had nowhere to go, he refused one.
A cold breeze hit them as they stepped out of the restaurant, and Logan suddenly felt a wave of dizziness. “Call Vivi. Have her come pick me up.”
Jack looked helpless. Vivian had left so decisively earlier. There was no way she would come
back to fetch him.
He hesitated for a moment, then decided it was worth a try to call her anyway.
Vivian had just arrived at her place and parked when Jack’s call came through. “What is it?” she asked coldly.
From her tone, Jack could tell she was only annoyed at being interrupted, giving Logan no thought at all.
Since he had covered up so many things for Logan, he couldn’t help but feel uneasy every time
he had to talk to Vivian.
“Ms. Hartwell, Mr. Whitfield is drunk and has nowhere to go. He asked me to call you. Would you like me to bring him over?”
He didn’t dare outright ask her to come get him.
Vivian let out a sharp, mocking laugh. “Nowhere to go? Jack, do you really expect me to believe
that?”
Jack could only remain silent.
Vivian continued, “I think there’s someone more than willing to take care of his drunk self. Why don’t you try contacting her and see if she’ll take him in?”
Jack frowned.
He wasn’t sure if Vivian was testing him, so he chose his words carefully. “Ms. Hartwell, who exactly are you referring to? I don’t understand.”

A soft laugh came from Vivian. “Jack, you’ve been by my side for so many years. You should know my character by now. If you don’t, it’s better that you stay clueless forever.”
A chill crept up from Jack’s feet to his chest. “Ms. Hartwell, I’m sorry.
Vivian interrupted him, “We all have our own loyalties and responsibilities. I get it–you’re Logan’s assistant now.”
With that, she hung up.
Jack stayed in the car, staring into the rearview mirror. Logan was already slumped against the seat, fast asleep, completely oblivious to the storm that was about to hit him.
He pressed a hand to his temple, feeling a dull headache coming on. In the end, he followed Vivian’s advice and took Logan over to Sloane’s place.
Sloane came downstairs to meet him, looking lighthearted and joyful. As Jack helped her lift Logan out of the car, the still–drunk Logan stirred slightly.
He raised a hand and slung it around Sloane, pulling her close. “Vivi, I knew you wouldn’t just leave me.”
Logan’s words were slurred, and he didn’t seem to recognize who he was hugging.
Sloane froze, and her face turned pale.
Jack pretended not to hear anything and guided Logan toward the elevator.
At the elevator, Sloane glanced at Jack. “Did he ask to come here, or…‘
Without a moment’s hesitation, Jack replied softly, “Of course, it was Mr. Whitfield’s request.”
Sloane’s expression softened slightly. “Alright. Just leave him here, then.”
Jack nodded and released his hold.
Logan leaned heavily on Sloane, swaying as he tried to keep his balance.
She struggled slightly to support him toward the elevator, though a small smile lingered on
her face.
After the elevator doors closed, Jack got back into the car and stared ahead, lost in thought. Perhaps it was time he began searching for a new job.
Vivian returned to her room, washed up, and slipped into bed. With Logan out of the way tonight, the house felt unusually quiet.
Just as she was drifting off, her phone buzzed.

She picked up her phone with a yawn and saw Sloane’s message. “Vivian, Logan got drunk and came over here. You don’t need to wait for him to come back.”
Vivian felt a surge of annoyance as she read the message. “Thanks for babysitting him. Don’t tire yourself out and end up losing your chips.‘
