Diana didn’t spare Sloane’s feelings at all. She shot Sloane a haughty glance and walked ahead.
After a few steps, she stopped and turned back. Seeing that Sloane hadn’t followed, her tone was sharp and cutting. “Move it. What are you standing there for? Do you expect me to carry you?”
Sloane lightly bit her lip, already regretting asking Diana to come over to look after her.
The last time Logan had taken Sloane back to the countryside to visit Diana, Diana had clearly acted very fond and caring toward her.
Sloane had even learned from Diana herself that she and Vivian had long–standing grudges.
She had thought Diana would be a powerful ally. She never imagined Diana would just be someone who fawned over whoever had the upper hand.
Hatred gnawed at her, but there was nothing she could do. “Mrs. Whitfield, this is a high–end
residential area. Almost every household has its own driver and car, so taxis rarely come here. I’ll just book a ride–hailing car on my phone to go back.”
Diana frowned in displeasure. “You should have said so earlier.”
Sloane fell silent, lowering her head as she booked a ride on her phone.
While she was doing so, Diana stood beside her and lectured her. “You heard what Logan said before he left. Don’t contact him during this period. As for you pretending to have a
stomachache last night and making a fuss, I won’t hold it against you for putting me and Logan through all that.”
Now that Logan was about to climb even higher thanks to Vivian, Diana would never allow anyone to affect her son’s future.
At best, Sloane was nothing more than a childbearing tool.
She said, “Women like you only set your sights on Logan’s money anyway. If Logan becomes the richest man one day, do you think he’ll treat you badly? You’d better keep yourself in check and not slip up in front of Vivian. If she finds out, I’ll make sure you pay for it.”
Sloane’s hand trembled, and she started to get a sense that she’d invited trouble into her own
home.
When Sloane didn’t respond, Diana used her elbow to shove Sloane. “Did you hear me?”

Sloane bit her lip, holding back the resentment inside her. “Mrs. Whitfield, I’m still with Logan’s child. Why are you pushing me?”

Diana glanced at her belly. “When I was pregnant with Logan, I was still working in the fields! What are you acting so fragile for?”
Sloane was speechless.
Diana felt smug as she looked at Sloane’s meek, downcast look.
Sloane was far easier to control than Vivian.
Vivian was never one to let herself suffer in silence. Back when they lived together, Vivian had never given in to Diana. No matter what it was, she always fought to win.
Diana didn’t like Vivian, but when profits were at stake, even dislike could turn into liking.
Though Diana had lived in the countryside her whole life, she knew very well what mattered
most.
When Vivian had stayed idle at home for half a year, not helping Logan in his career and not bearing any children, Diana had felt the child in Sloane’s belly was what mattered.
But now that Vivian was helping Logan rise even higher in his career, Vivian became the more important one.

Even the construction contractor back in their village, who wasn’t that wealthy, had two or three mistresses.
As long as there was money, Logan would never lack women, and she herself wouldn’t have to worry about not having grandchildren.
Vivian wouldn’t answer his calls, so Logan pulled some strings to find out which private room Kingston was in.
When he arrived at the restaurant, he first tidied up his car and sprayed some of Vivian’s favorite perfume to mask the traces left behind by Sloane and Diana. Only after that did he go inside.
Inside the private room, the atmosphere was very friendly.

Meanwhile, Vivian sat to the side, chatting with Stella.
The moment Logan pushed the door open, everything inside seemed to freeze.
