James’s startup did well, quickly landing its first project.
He invited me to the celebration dinner, assuring me repeatedly: “After this, I’ll spend time with you and the baby.”
” If you think I’m doing something wrong, just tell me. I’ll change.”
But as soon as we reached the restaurant, the hostess’s smile froze.
She muttered just loud enough: “Different one this time.”
I stopped.
Just then, Sarah texted, saying some documents needed my immediate confirmation at the office.
James’s face darkened with displeasure. “Can’t you put work off for me for once?”
I shook my head.
How many times had I called when I needed him, only for him to hang up saying he was busy without even asking why?
I’d brought him food once, kindly. His colleague liked my coat and wanted my contact to ask for the link.
When James saw, he scolded me for spying on him.
He said I was suffocating him, forbidding me from disturbing him at work.
And now, he wanted me to ditch my own job for a celebration dinner that had nothing to do with me.
James paced irritably. “Luna, it’s because you don’t trust me with Emily that I brought you here. If you leave now, don’t get jealous later.”
I nodded. Jealous? That was pointless now.
After finalizing the overseas plan, Sarah told me the date was set for next Sunday.
She looked at me with pity.
“You’ve lost so much weight lately. Still giving him the cold shoulder?”
I didn’t answer. Maybe I was just waiting for the final verdict.
My phone buzzed with a friend request.
The profile picture was the hostess from the restaurant.
After accepting, she sent a video.
In it, Emily was feeding James a drink from her mouth, holding the glass with her teeth. His friends cheered around them.
After the video, a message followed: “Disgusting homewrecker.”
