My eyes went to the statue of the moon goddess. It seemed like he was looking at me. It was so surreal.
The priest cleared his throat softly. He pulled the sanctum back to focus. “Your Majesty, Lady Bella, please hold your palms out.” he instructed, his voice filling the room. My eyes dared to Troy who was watching us with curiosity.
Scott took a deep breath and then released my hand only long rough for us to obey. We turned slightly toward the altar, palans up. I watched the priest pull a small ceremonial blade from a velvet cloth. It wasn’t large, but it looked ancient. Its silver blade gleamed faintly as it caught the moonlight.
I swallowed. I wasn’t afraid of the cut through my palm, but my erves were high and my body was already overloaded with
emotion
The priest moved closer as he looked at me carefully. “This is the seal,” he intoned with calm eyes. “Lady Bella, I promise this is not a wound, or a test of pain. It is a ceremony of joining!”
I knew it already because Millie had already told me about it many times. She had even shown her palm where there was not a trace of scar. He sliced Scott’s palm first. I nodded to the priest.
Scott looked at me, trying to convey his assurance and his confidence. And I knew that to be his wife, I had to go through this ceremony. He gave his palm to the priest first. The priest moved the sharp blade across his skin. Blood oozed out but he did not flinch. In fact, he just had this pride on his face.
Then the priest turned to me.
I held my breath as he brought the dagger over my hand. The blade kissed my skin. Pain stung sharply for a second. I winced despite myself, my fingers twitching.
Scott instantly shifted closer. His arm brushed mine. “It’ll be over soon, darling,” he murmured under his breath. “Breathe, Bella.”
I exhaled shakily, and the priest stepped back with a nod of approval. “Now,” he guided, “press your palms together.”
Scott lifted his hand toward mine, and I met it without hesitation. The moment our blood touched, the air changed. I didn’t know how else to describe it. The space between us turned warm and alive. There was a soft shimmer which was almost like a heat haze that rippled around our joined hands. Moonlight seemed to brighten, as if the temple itself leaned in to watch.
My breath caught as the warmth spread from our palms up my arms and into my chest, settling there like a pulse. It wasn’t painful or overwhelming. It was just… right. Like a door closing softly behind me while another opened ahead. Like something had clicked inside my chest in its right place. I felt in tune with Scott. His every fiber of existence was now connected with mine. There was this deep awareness that reached my soul that Scott, my soul mate, was the man I would follow all my life, and after that.
Tears stung behind my eyes at the realization. This was what it was to be the wife of a Lycan. The bonds were sealed forever. And suddenly, every emotion I had felt for Scott, felt justified. I couldn’t think of a life without him.
Scott’s eyes never left my face. His expression softened, and for a second I forgot about everyone watching. I forgot about the crowd, the firepits, the priest. All I felt was him, and the bond completing in our hearts with a certainty that made my throat tighten.
My reverie was interrupted when the priest’s voice rose again. He chanted words I didn’t fully understand, but I felt the magic swirling gently around us. I felt it wrap around us like a gentle thread tightening into a knot.
Then, just as suddenly as it began, it was done. The warmth faded under my skin. It hummed with different energy.
I blinked down at my palm and gasped. The cut was already closing. Skin was knitting together in front of my eyes until the

looked up at him, stunned His gaze held mine in a promise. And there I could read countless emotions–of relief, devotion, pride and deep love.
This was a life–changing moment, I allowed a tear to slip from my eyes, and Scott didn’t wipe it because I knew he knew what I was thinking. That my past was over, that I had to start a new life with him, that no one could ever separate us, that I’d follow him everywhere he’ll go, even to death.
With satisfaction clear on his face, the priest stepped back. He led his hands slightly. His voice carried through the sanctum. “By the Moon Goddess, the bond is sealed,” he announced. Then he turned toward Scott with a formal nod. “Your Majesty… you may kiss the bride.”
As soon as the priest said that, there was an excited murmur amongst everyone. I didn’t know what it was about. I mean it was what everyone did. They kissed their brides after the ceremony. I waited for Scott to lift my veil and kiss me, but he only watched me with those intense eyes that were burning with a different kind of fire.
What the hell was happening? I mouthed, “Kiss me, Scott!”
Troy coughed, covering his mouth as if to hold his laugh. Damnt.
The priest said loudly, “Your Majesty, the chamber is ready for you to kiss your bride.”
Huh?
“No,” I protested. “You are supposed to kiss me in front of everyone.”
“That’s true,” the priest interjected. “By law, we can all witness the kiss, if the bride wants.”
Scott let out a snarl. The priest paled. Hurriedly, he turned, placed the dagger back in the wooden box from where he had retrieved it. Then he said to everyone, “Please go out! The King will kiss his bride.”
Why was kissing so secretive? Was it another form of ritual?
Millie rushed the kids out, giggling as Troy went after them. All the while as I watched everyone milling out, Scott’s gaze remained fixed on me.
A voice on the side sounded, “I will stay here to witness the kiss.” It was Elder Hux.
“Oh, thank God!” I said with relief, and he grinned.
Scott turned to him, his fury rolling off in waves. “Will you, Elder Hux?” he said as air cracked around him. It felt like waves of strong pulse, and it made Hux wince.
Hux stepped back. “N–no, I’ll leave, Your Majesty!” Saying that he hurried away. And now there was no one in the temple.
“Scott, what are you doing? That was the only witness. A bride should be kissed-” I didn’t even finish the sentence, when Scott caught my wrist and walked to a secret room toward the extreme end of the temple. He opened it, pulled me inside and closed the door. “What are you-”
He dropped to his knees. He ran his hands up my thighs and he slid my panties down. He parted my legs. And before I knew he kissed my pussy.
