Then his hand flies across my face.

He hit me-but somehow his voice is the one breaking with pain.
His face twists with regret. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to. But you can’t say shit like that about a student!”
I laugh.
And slap him right back.
“Zach.” My voice is deadly calm. “She’s your student. Not mine.”
“To me? She’s a homewrecker who stole my dead father’s bracelet. Got a problem with that?”
His expression hardens. Eyes like knives. “I’m telling you one last time-Naomi is not a mistress!”
“What happened to trusting me, Vivian? When did you become so disgusting?”
I’m about to tell him to get the fuck out-
When the door swings open.
Naomi pokes her head in, voice sweet as poison. “Coach, please don’t fight with Mrs. Carter because of me. I came to apologize.”
She turns to me, bowing slightly. “I came over during that rainstorm to change clothes. I thought the bracelet was cheap, so I just… took it.”
