In Your Life Novel Chapter 10

Moon-Cursed Princess by Mark Twain 10

Chapter 10

Corinne rushed over and, seeing Bryant looking utterly haggard, she yanked off the cloth covering me.

Bryant just stared, his fingers tracing over the two bloody skulls on me.

“Marjorie, where are your eyes? Where did they go?”

They were gouged out by the kidnappers, didn’t the police tell you? It was suspected to be a vendetta.

“Mr. Whitney, did Mrs. Whitney… ever call you for help? The police have already concluded that after Mrs. Whitney was kidnapped, she was killed because the ransom didn’t arrive in time.” :

A mouthful of fresh blood spurted from Bryant’s lips.

Everyone was thrown into chaos.

Corinne’s face turned deathly pale; she hadn’t expected Bryant to react so strongly to the news of my death.

Bryant collapsed straight to the ground, muttering to himself, “Impossible, impossible, how could she really have been kidnapped?”

I leaned closer to him. “Yes, Bryant, what did you say back then? If you want to die, do it quickly, reap what you sow, right?”

So now, does this count as reaping what you sow?

I followed Bryant into the hospital, where Corinne was constantly caring for him.

Bryant called for his secretary. “Have you found the people who kidnapped her?”

Corinne’s hand, which was peeling an apple, suddenly froze. She excused herself to the restroom and left the ward; I floated after her.

“Useless! You can’t even handle a corpse!”

“So what now? Protect you? I can’t protect you anymore, you’re on your own!”

Watching her anxious expression, I suddenly realized-it was her who wanted me dead.

Furious, I floated toward her and, from a distance, slapped her several times across the face.

But then, I saw Bryant standing behind her.

“I’m telling you! If you don’t clean this up and Bryant finds out, we’ll all die together!”

Corinne’s call continued, while Bryant stood silently behind her, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at her like she was already dead.

The moment Corinne hung up and turned around, Bryant lunged at her, gripping her throat tightly, his voice hoarse as he demanded, “Why? Why did you kill her?”

His grip grew tighter and tighter, as if in the next moment, Corinne’s neck would snap in his hands.

Corinne stared at the man choking her, her eyes filled with disbelief.

He had once been so gentle to her on my birthday, telling her, “As you wish.”

How could it be that after my death, he would strangle her for my sake, seeking justice for me?

Watching their struggle, for a moment, I truly wished Bryant would choke her to death!

The secretary rushed out and stopped Bryant. “Mr. Whitney, the police have already caught the murderer who kidnapped Mrs. Whitney.”

Only after hearing this did Bryant finally loosen his grip.

Corinne collapsed to the ground like a pile of mud, gasping for breath. “Bryant, listen to me, I just loved you too much!”

“My sister had everything from birth. But me? I was just an illegitimate child.”

Bryant was stunned, then suddenly burst out laughing. “You envy her?”

Corinne was shaken by his laughter. “Bryant, what do you mean? Of course I envy her, she had everything from the moment she was born!”

At that moment, Bryant stopped laughing.

His voice was icy, like a demon crawling out of hell, as he said to Corinne, “Since you envy her, then go live her life.”

He handed the notebook to the secretary. “Take her and, according to what’s written in this notebook, let her experience Marjorie’s life in full.”

“No, please, Bryant, I was wrong, I was wrong…”

“Bryant, I just loved you too much. Didn’t you love me the most before?”

“The ring you gave me, I’m still wearing it around my neck.”

Bryant’s fingers twitched.

Corinne thought he was feeling pity, and grabbed his pant leg, begging desperately. But Bryant coldly tore the necklace from her neck.

“Take her away. Remember, every hardship Marjorie suffered, she must suffer too, understand?”

The secretary replied in a trembling voice.

Several men in black stepped forward and dragged Corinne away.

I thought he was just saying it, but unexpectedly, he really made Corinne endure every torment I had suffered.

When he personally gouged out Corinne’s eyes, his own eyes were bloodshot as he spoke to her, lying in a pool of blood like a pile of mud, “Didn’t you always envy her life? Now you’ve experienced it all- are you satisfied?”

Corinne was already barely breathing.

He dismissed all the men in black, then took out his phone and opened the chat window with me.

He deleted the last message, then sent, “Honey, don’t wait for me to come home for dinner tonight, I won’t be back.”

After that, he took the wedding ring he had torn from Corinne’s neck and put it on his ring finger.

As the distant sound of sirens approached, his face was filled with tenderness as he gazed at the wedding ring.

“Honey, I’ve donated all the Whitney family’s assets to that mountain village. No wonder, when you were kidnapped, there wasn’t even 75,000 dollars left. Turns out, except for what Corinne took, everything else went to that village. I can’t make it up to you anymore.”

“Honey, I’ll spend the rest of my life in prison to atone for my sins… I hope…”

I could no longer hear what Bryant was saying.

But to me, it no longer mattered.

I hope that in my next life, I can meet Suzan again and spend a peaceful lifetime with her.

But I never want to meet Bryant again!
