“Is all of this true?” Zachary’s voice was low and threatening.

His assistant straightened up and answered carefully. “I had someone verify everything. Three years ago when your dad lost that investment, the Bennett family and the Reeves family were definitely behind it.
“And Kristen didn’t just suddenly decide to break off your engagement and marry Tyler. She’d been planning it all along. Autumn was the only one who had no idea what was really going on.
“Kristen didn’t divorce Tyler because of abuse either. She found out the Bennett family was about to go bankrupt because of our retaliation, and she didn’t want to go down with them.
“Also, Kristen was the one who contacted Tyler first. That account did belong to Autumn, but she’d stopped using it ages ago. Kristen got access to it somehow and used it to frame Autumn.”
He paused before continuing. “I also found security footage that shows Kristen faked being pushed down the stairs and having a miscarriage. She didn’t want to have Tyler’s baby, and she wanted to drive a wedge between you and Autumn, so she staged the whole thing.
“Oh, and when Kristen found out you were going to see Autumn, she paid someone to run Autumn over with a car. If someone hadn’t saved her, you would’ve shown up to find Autumn’s body instead.”
Zachary’s knuckles turned white as he crushed the papers in his fist.
This was the woman he’d been pining after all this time, the one he thought he owed everything to. The truth made him sick.
His eyes went cold. “Bring her in.”
The office door opened almost immediately, and Kristen walked in with a bright smile. “Zachary, you’re calling me over already? We’ve barely been apart. Someone’s missing me, huh?”
Zachary stood up slowly and pushed the scattered documents toward her. “Take a look. Any of this ring a bell?”
Kristen looked down, and the smile froze on her face the second she saw what was there.
“This… this is…” Her whole body started shaking, and she threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his waist. “Zachary, let me explain! This wasn’t me! Someone’s trying to frame me! Zachary, you have to believe me…”

“What about this?” Zachary pulled up a video on his phone, and the footage was crystal clear.
“Don’t worry. I’m about to let go.” Kristen’s voice came through, dripping with malice, and in the next second, Autumn was pushed down the stairs. Kristen threw herself down right after.
Kristen’s eyes darted everywhere, and tears started pouring down her face. “Zachary, I only did it because I love you so much… Please forgive me, okay?”
“Love?” Zachary grabbed her chin hard, his eyes blazing with anger. “You think you deserve to even talk about love? Compared to Autumn, your so-called love is disgusting! If it weren’t for you, Autumn never would’ve left me!”
When she saw he wasn’t going to budge, her expression went cold. She wiped away her tears and let out a mocking laugh. “You still think Autumn’s in love with you? That’s hilarious. What if she mixed you up with someone else? If she found out you weren’t the one who saved her from drowning all those years ago, do you really think she’d still love you?”
“You’re lying! There’s no way Autumn doesn’t love me!”
Zachary refused to believe a word Kristen said. She was nothing but a manipulative liar.
If it weren’t for her, Autumn wouldn’t have aborted their baby and divorced him. If it weren’t for her, he and Autumn would be married by now with their child, living happily together.
He grabbed Kristen’s throat and squeezed. If she had never existed, none of this would have happened.
When Kristen started to pass out, his assistant panicked and tried to stop him. “Mr. Hayes, let go! You’re going to kill her!”
When Zachary didn’t respond, the assistant threw out the one name that might work. “Don’t you want to see Autumn again?”
