At the wedding venue, Zachary kept glancing toward the entrance, and his brows furrowed without him realizing it.

Elowen noticed and looked over curiously. “Zachary, why do you keep staring at the door?”

“The wedding’s about to start, and Autumn’s still not here.”

“Wait, you don’t know?” Elowen looked genuinely startled. “Today’s bride isn’t Autumn—

“Zachary! Come on, let me introduce you to some other relatives.” Logan Reeves, Autumn’s father, walked over with a huge smile plastered across his face and grabbed Zachary’s arm, pulling him toward the crowd without giving him a chance to protest.

Elowen’s unfinished sentence got swallowed up by the noise of the party, and she let out a sigh but didn’t say anything more.

The moment Vanessa spotted Zachary, her face lit up with a bright smile. “Zachary, I’m trusting you with my daughter’s happiness from now on. She loves you with all her heart, so please don’t let her down.”

“Mom, don’t worry. From now on, I won’t let Autumn suffer even a little bit. I’ll make sure she’s happy forever.” The words left his mouth before he could think, and Autumn’s face suddenly flashed through his mind.

She was the one who married him without a second thought when he was at his absolute lowest and had no one else.

Nobody knew that after losing his girlfriend, becoming disabled, and losing his father all at once, Zachary had nearly ended his own life.

It was Autumn that brought his dead heart back to life and gave him a reason to keep going.

From that moment on, he’d promised himself he would never let her down for the rest of his life.

Logan muttered under his breath, “What’s Autumn got to do with any of this? Isn’t Kristen supposed to be the bride today?”

Zachary was lost in his memories and didn’t quite catch what Logan said. He looked what’d you just say?”

“Dad,

Logan caught Elowen’s warning glare and realized he’d said too much. He shook his head.

Zachary didn’t think much of it and casually asked, “Where’s Kristen anyway? I haven’t seen her around.”

A flash of discomfort crossed Vanessa’s face, but she smoothed it over quickly. “Kristen went to the dressing room to be with her sister. You’ll see her soon enough.”

A knot of worry formed in Zachary’s chest. Would those two really be okay alone together?

After all, Autumn was the reason Kristen lost her baby, and Kristen had always been petty and held grudges.

He was about to head to the dressing room to check on them when the officiant announced that the ceremony was about to begin, so he forced himself to push the thoughts aside.

The lights came up, and a stunning figure appeared at the entrance to the hall. She walked toward Zachary step by step to the wedding march, then locked eyes with him as he stood there holding the bouquet with an expectant smile on his face.

The moment the bouquet hit the floor, the air seemed to freeze.

Zachary’s smile vanished the second he saw the face beneath the veil. All the color drained from his face in an instant, and his voice came out rough and shaking. “Kristen? Why is it you? Where’s… where’s Autumn?”

Kristen bit her lip, and her eyes turned red. “Zachary, aren’t you happy that I’m the bride?”

“Kristen, stop this.” Zachary barely kept his anger in check. “I’m Autumn’s husband now. Autumn’s supposed to be the bride today, not you.”

“I don’t believe that! You still have feelings for me!”

Honestly, Zachary couldn’t deny it. He really hadn’t let go of Kristen.

After loving someone for so many years, his entire youth and all his memories were tangled up with her. How could anyone just let that go?

“Even if that’s true, it doesn’t matter. We ended a long time ago. Autumn’s my wife now, and I won’t do anything to hurt her.”

He turned to walk off the stage. The entire venue erupted into chaos as guests whispered and gossiped among themselves. The officiant stood there awkwardly, completely at a loss for what to do next.

Kristen grabbed Zachary’s hand. “Zachary, Autumn already left! This wedding was always meant to be ours.”

Zachary froze at those words. He whipped around and stared hard at Kristen. “What do you mean? Where did Autumn go?”
