She Got the Divorce and Bolted Novel Chapter 89

She got the divorce and bolted 89

Shannon rushed over to touch up Melody’s makeup. Melody’s cheek was burning, a clear red mark already blooming across her skin. She clenched her teeth and lowered her voice.

“Michelle, did you do that on purpose? You hit way too hard.”

Michelle blinked innocently and said with exaggerated sincerity, “Ms. Foster, it was required by the script. If I don’t hit hard enough, the audience will be able to tell that it’s fake.

“Once they can tell we’re acting, they won’t be able to immerse themselves in the film–which in turn means that it’ll be a flop. How are you supposed to blow up from this role? I was doing this entirely for your benefit.”

She delivered her twisted logic with absolute confidence.

Melody trembled with anger, but she could only swallow it down.

During the next take, Michelle still gave Melody a harsh slap. Her expression was slightly more restrained this time, but she didn’t soften the force at all.

Carl initially felt dissatisfied and was about to call cut, but when he caught sight of Miles‘ darkened expression nearby, he

hesitated.

Finally, he said, “Alright, this one passes. Take ten minutes. We’ll move on to the next shot after that.”

The crew began rearranging the props and adjusting the cameras. Michelle returned to the resting area and flashed Sienna a big peace sign, grinning smugly.

“How was it? Don’t you think my acting deserves a Silver Screen Award? It was all pure emotion and zero trace of acting.”

Sienna glanced at Michelle’s reddened palm, feeling both annoyed and amused. “You’re not even afraid of breaking your

hand.‘

“If we shot a few more takes, I probably really would have. That earthworm’s skin is thicker than a city wall. My whole hand’s numb,” Michelle said, baring her teeth as she rotated her wrist.

“Drink some water.” Sienna handed her a bottle and nodded toward the corner.

“You should tone it down a bit. Miles has been staring over there like a hawk. I swear he looks like he’s about to pounce and bite you,” Sienna warned.

Michelle twisted the cap and took a gulp, following Sienna’s gaze. Miles was standing beside Melody, staring straight at them as though he were ready to devour them whole.

Michelle curled her lips in amusement. “Fine, fine. I’ll act normal for the next take. I’ve already had my fun anyway.‘

After the break, Michelle adjusted her costume and returned to the set.

Sienna had just sat down when Rosa approached her, her high heels clicking against the floor.

She looked down at Sienna, a faint, knowing smile on her lips. “Did the dignified eldest daughter of the Winger family reduce herself to being a production assistant just to watch Melody embarrass herself?”

Sienna lifted her gaze calmly. “It’s a free show. I’d be stupid not to watch.”

Rosa chuckled lightly, her tone tinged with mockery. “You two used to be inseparable best friends. Watching things end up like this… It really is tragic.”

The corners of Sienna’s mouth twitched. “Compared to you, I’m practically harmless. If someone dared stab you in the back, you’d probably stab them 99 times in return and make sure they were dead without a doubt. My little tricks don’t even count.

Rosa’s smile deepened. “That’s true. If she’d dared to betray me like that, I wouldn’t have let her off so easily. But really, this is on you for being blind and treating trash like your best friend. Since we’re on the same page now, how about we work together?”

As of late, Melody had been acting like she owned the set, relying on Clayton and Miles to back her up. She didn’t even bother to treat Rosa with respect, which grated on the latter’s nerves.

“What do you mean by that?” Sienna asked, her expression unreadable.

Rosa narrowed her eyes. “Isn’t that little slut in an ambiguous relationship with your husband? Get a reporter, snap some photos, and blow it up. Lock in her reputation as a homewrecker. Let’s see how long she can be smug after that.”

Sienna raised an eyebrow. “You’re the producer. The show hasn’t even aired yet. Wouldn’t it cost you if the second female lead gets caught in a scandal now?”

Rosa crossed her arms, utterly unconcerned. “It’s just a movie. What’s there to feel bad about? I didn’t even invest that much. But it would truly be irritating if she actually gets famous because of this production.

“Trash belongs in the trash can. Letting it crawl out to pollute the air is just annoying. I’ll ask you one last time–are you in or not? I can have reporters arranged immediately.”

Hearing her proposal, Sienna leaned back slightly, putting some distance between them.

“I can’t afford to provoke her. Right now, she’s Clayton’s precious darling. If I touch her, he’ll be the first to come after me. He’d probably slap me across the face without hesitation.

“I’m barely keeping myself afloat as it is. How could I afford to cooperate with you? As long as he honors the agreement, divorces me properly, and gives me my compensation, I’ll take my money and leave quietly.”

Rosa’s expression instantly cooled, irritation flashing across her face. “Sienna, I really misjudged you. No wonder she walks all over you. You’re spineless.”

With that, she turned and walked away, her heels clicking the floor loudly.

Sienna’s expression didn’t change. After all, she understood Rosa’s scheme perfectly.

There was never any need for “cooperation“. If Rosa truly wanted to go after Melody, she could have hired reporters herself. There was no need to involve Sienna.

She was simply wary of Clayton and wanted a scapegoat. Once things exploded, she would have thrown Sienna under the bus while she herself would have disappeared without a trace.

Besides, even if Melody’s reputation were ruined, with Clayton backing her, she would never lack resources. It wouldn’t take long before she got back on her feet.
