Chapter 88
Melody sneered and said, “I already gave you an easy way out. Since you refuse to take it, don’t blame me for what happens next.”
Sienna quickened her pace, feeling as though a ball of fire was lodged in her chest. She had been provoked for no reason first thing in the morning by Melody–what rotten luck!
What made it even more infuriating was Clayton, that damn scumbag. It would have been fine if he had just thrown the gift away. Instead, he let Melody have it, giving her the chance to parade it right in front of her.
She swore to herself that, from that day on, she would never gift Clayton another gift.
She pushed open the door to the dressing room. Michelle was sitting in front of the mirror getting her hair styled, while the makeup artist was applying foundation.
The moment she saw Sienna come in, Michelle immediately started wiggling her eyebrows at her through the mirror and waving excitedly.
“Enna, come here! Quick!”
Sienna suppressed the irritation in her heart and walked over. “Did you win the lottery or something? Why are you this happy?”
Michelle raised her hand and clapped lightly in the air twice, her eyes glinting with mischief. “Even better than winning the lottery. We’re filming the scene where I teach Melody a lesson this afternoon. Watch me give her a taste of my palm.”
Sienna laughed and pressed down on her restless wrist. “Hold back a little. What then if you really hurt Clayton’s precious darling, and he comes looking for you? Are you going to tremble like a scared little quail again?”
As much as she wanted to slap Melody herself, she was more worried that Michelle would get into trouble.
Michelle protested, jabbing her finger at the script until it rustled loudly, “The script is written in black and white! Even if God himself shows up, we still have to follow the plot!”
Seeing that she couldn’t persuade her, Sienna could only choose to wait and see.
After the morning scenes wrapped up, it was finally time for Michelle and Melody’s confrontation scene.
The set was prepared quickly.
Sienna stood to the side, watching. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Miles not far away. Their gazes met briefly before he snorted coldly and turned away in disdain.
Sienna rolled her eyes as well. She couldn’t understand why these people were acting so smug.
The clapperboard snapped. “The Chronicle of Fallen Stars, Scene 36–action!”
Michelle, playing Olwina, was dressed in a dark purple embroidered gown, reclining lazily on a carved wooden chair. Her chin was slightly raised, making her look the very picture of an arrogant noblewoman.
Melody, playing Celene, wore a pale pink chiffon dress. Holding a teacup, she bowed submissively with her lowered eyes, looking so frail that she seemed unable to take care of herself.
The scene depicted Celene being treated as unwelcome after marrying Eurion. Queen Gwendolyne sent her own sister, Olwina, to torment her in every possible way under the pretense of teaching etiquette.
“Greetings, Your Majesty,” Celene said softly.
“Cut!” Carl suddenly called out.

“Ms. Foster, your expression needs to be weaker. You’re a concubine who’s being bullied. There should be that pitiful, helpless feeling.
During the second take, Olwina sneered and suddenly raised her hand, knocking over the teacup. Scalding tea splashed onto Celene’s hand, and she flinched in pain, instinctively drawing her fingers back.
“A seductress will always be a seductress. Even your greetings reek of the brothel. Are you trying to show the world where you came from?”
Celene’s face went pale. “I’m sorry, Your Majesty! I am to blame.”
“I’ll teach you what the rules are today!” Olwina waved her hand, and two maids immediately grabbed Celene’s shoulders, forcing her to kneel.
Celene’s maid panicked and rushed forward. “My lady is weak and can’t endure this-”
The crisp sound of a slap echoed across the set. Celene’s head snapped to the side, and several strands slipped loose from her hair.
Olwina briskly shook out her hand. Her round eyes widened as she glared viciously at Celene.
“You can’t even discipline your own maid. My sister was right! You are merely a lowborn wretch who only brings shame. All you know is shameless tricks to seduce the Crown Prince.”
“Cut!” Carl rubbed his forehead.
“Ms. Gill, that expression was way too ferocious. You’re disciplining a concubine, not trying to murder her.”
Michelle withdrew her fierce expression and stuck out her tongue playfully. “Sorry. Let’s do another take. I’ll rein it in a bit.”
