Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 86
Chapter 86
Did it hurt?
Yes.
But it was nothing compared to the gaping wound in Natalie’s heart.
Jeffrey had been stabbing at Natalie’s heart for five years. So, this pain was nothing compared to that.
Jeffrey’s eyes were filled with fury. “Are you using my grandma’s support for you as an excuse to act without restraint? Natalie, I’ve truly indulged you too much.”
Natalie snorted. He indulged her? That was the funniest thing she had ever heard.
Jeffrey spoke again, his voice cold. “Tomorrow morning, go apologize to Ab. You can only leave the hospital when she forgives you.”
“No way.” Without hesitation, Natalie refused flatly.
Jeffrey slammed his hand on the table. “Are you going or not?”
“I’m not going!” She bent down to pick up the file from the floor. Then, she threw it back at Jeffrey without so much as a blink.
Did he think he could throw things and she couldn’t throw them back? She could do it too!
She had hurled the file with all her strength, but Jeffrey swiftly moved aside. The file flew past him and straight into the bookshelf behind him. The glass of the bookshelf cracked, splintering into a web of fractures.
Jeffrey’s eyes blazed with fury. “Natalie!”
“I’m right here, so there’s no need to yell my name so loudly. Jeffrey, men who hit women are the most useless and lowly men on earth. How did I waste 17 years of my life loving an asshole like you?”
What a fool she had been.
Jeffrey stormed around the desk, his steps quick and threatening. But before he could reach her, there was a knock on the door.
“Mr. Foster, Mrs. Foster, are you having an argument in there?” Martha’s voice came through.
The commotion was loud enough for Martha to have heard everything.
Natalie bit her lip, then immediately turned toward the door to open it. She couldn’t take it anymore. It was time to confront everything and to tell everyone the truth. Why should she

put up with this?

They were divorcing. Yet, she still had to sleep on the same bed and live under the same roof as her ex–husband.
She was about to touch the doorknob when a force suddenly yanked her back by the collar of her shirt. She looked up into Jeffrey’s angry, red eyes.
“What do you think you’re doing?” His breathing was heavy, and his voice was low.
Natalie shot back, “What do you think I’m going to say to Martha right now?”
“Are you threatening me?”
“You can put it that way.”
Jeffrey gritted his teeth. “Natalie, I really underestimated you.”
“Well, better late than never,” she replied, turning to open the door.
“Do you dare? Natalie, do you not want a divorce?” Jeffrey let go of her collar and grabbed her by the throat instead.
Natalie’s voice was filled with frustration. “I do! I’ve been dreaming of it every night!”
“If my grandma finds out, not only will she fall ill, but she also won’t allow us to divorce. The divorce isn’t finalized yet. Do you want to throw it all away?”
In an instant, Natalie felt like all the air had been sucked out of her.
She had been keeping the divorce a secret, and it was only an agreement between the two of them. Once it was finalized, they could go public about it. But if it were to be exposed before it was finalized and both families found out, it would be impossible to go through with it.
“Mr. Foster, Mrs. Foster? Are you two okay?” Martha’s worried voice sounded again.
Jeffrey coldly shouted toward the door, “We don’t need you to intervene!”
“But I heard a lot of noise, Mr. Foster,” Martha responded.
Jeffrey shot a glance at Natalie.
Taking a deep breath, Natalie calmed herself and replied, “It’s nothing, Martha. We were just fooling around.”
