Divorced, Upgraded, and Married Rich Chapter 66

Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 66

Chapter 66

Caroline and Beverly stood up from the couch one after another. Both women were smiling happily. It was clear that they were satisfied with what they had gained from this visit to

Foster Garden.

Natalie was about to say something more, but Jeffrey cut in first, “Alright, Nat and I will see you both out.”

What? He just agreed like that? Why?

Natalie turned to look at Jeffrey beside her. She was still trying to put up a fight, yet he had already surrendered.

Beverly waved her hand dismissively. “No need to walk us out. The car is waiting right there. It’s only a few steps.”

She walked up to Natalie and caressed her face. “Nat lost her parents at a young age. She’s a pitiful child. But now, she has Jeffrey, someone who will stay by her side and never leave her. That can be considered a blessing that the heavens have given her in return.”

Natalie couldn’t quite force a smile. She merely lifted the corner of her lips slightly.

“You two should have a good life together,” Beverly said as she looked at them affectionately. “Everything that should come will come.”

After the two elderly ladies left, the living room suddenly felt empty.

Martha rubbed her hands together. “Sir, ma’am, I’ll go back to the kitchen, then.”

Jeffrey responded with a brief nod.

Once everyone had left, Natalie questioned him immediately, “Why did you agree to let Martha stay? I was still refusing, but you agreed!”

“You should speak louder,” Jeffrey said calmly. “That way, Martha can actually hear you.”

Gritting her teeth, she lowered her voice. “You can’t possibly not know what it means to have Martha stay at Foster Garden.”

“Of course, I do.”

“Then why didn’t you find a way to send her away?”

He countered, “Do you think my grandma is stupid?”

Caroline clearly wanted Martha here to keep an eye on the couple. Her intentions were very obvious. If they kept refusing, it would only prove that something was off about their

marriage. Their relationship only seemed harmonious on the surface, but they weren’t intimate in private.

Conversely, Caroline wouldn’t suspect anything if they acted indifferent to Martha’s presence and let her stay. That was why Jeffrey had agreed.

Natalie froze for a moment before coming to the same realization. Indeed, it would only make them seem suspicious and evasive if they kept stopping Martha from moving in.

But… what were they supposed to do next?

Jeffrey massaged his throbbing temples. “Let’s leave it for now and think of a solution later.

He went upstairs and entered the study. By the time he finished his work and returned to the main bedroom, Natalie had already laid out the blanket and pillows on the couch. Jeffrey crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe. “Are you going to sleep on the couch?”

Natalie replied, “You’re sleeping on the couch.”

“Me?”

“Who else?” she shot back. “You’re a grown man. Don’t you know how to be a gentleman and give in to women?”

Jeffrey glanced sideways at the couch. “Do you think it can fit me?”

At six feet and two inches, he wouldn’t even be able to lie down with his legs straight. Besides, he was a scion and had been pampered his whole life. When had he ever suffered this kind of treatment?

Natalie looked at him in silence and then at the narrow couch before shrugging. “Alright. Then lay a mattress on the floor, and you can sleep there.”

Jeffrey’s lips twitched slightly. He was demoted from the couch to the floor. The downgrade made it even worse. He straightened up and sauntered over to Natalie’s side. Bending down to meet her eyes, he said, “I’m sleeping on the bed. As for you, you can sleep wherever you want.”

Walking past her, he loosened his tie, unbuttoned his shirt, and undid his belt… His

movements were smooth and unhurried.

Natalie knew what that meant. Jeffrey was going to take a shower. In the past, she would have caught up to him at this moment. She would pick up the clothes he casually tossed aside and place them into the laundry basket like a maid.

However, she enjoyed it back then. Natalie believed that taking care of her husband was true happiness.

But now… It did not have anything to do with her anymore.

As Jeffrey walked, he dropped his clothes one by one. By the time he reached the bathroom door, he slipped his trousers off.
