Divorced While Pregnant The Ex-Husband’s Collapse 61

Chapter 61

Natalie was completely stunned.

They hadn’t even started eating yet. In fact, the dishes weren’t even on the table. Yet, the gallery issue had been resolved, and she’d somehow gained a mentor as well.

Fate was suddenly being far too kind to her, and she felt a bit overwhelmed.

Stacy quickly shot Natalie a look. “Daniel, look at her. She’s so happy that she’s gone silly. She’s totally forgotten to acknowledge you as her mentor.”

Daniel burst into hearty laughter.

Natalie really was dumbfounded. She wouldn’t have dared to even dream of something this big, yet it was now happening in real life. She secretly pinched herself and clearly felt the pain. Only then did she gulp and find her voice again.

“These things shouldn’t be rushed. We need to properly prepare for this. Let me… Let me make the arrangements first…”

“Sure, sure. Just make sure to call me when the time comes. I’ll be your witness,” Stacy said.

“Alright, Nat. Sit.” Stacy pressed a hand on Natalie’s shoulder and guided her to sit beside

Daniel.

When Johnson walked in, the room was already buzzing with lively conversation. He was carrying two bottles of fine liquor. When it came to networking, he really knew what he was doing.

But the sight of Stacy still caught him by surprise. “Stacy? You’ve graduated and come back?”

Stacy answered cheerfully, “Yes! Johnson, it’s been years, but you’re still just as handsome.”

That said, she leaned sideways to Natalie and whispered, “What’s he doing here? Where’s Jeffrey? Why is your husband not involved in something so important? Is he just letting another man handle everything?”

“I… He…” Natalie hesitated.

Stacy seemed to guess something and said, “After all these years of marriage, he’s still so utterly indifferent? No matter what you do, he still thinks you’re the one who tore him and Abigail apart?”

Natalie said quietly, “Stacy, let’s not talk about this now. We’ll talk later.”

Stacy shrugged.

Johnson took his seat and began drinking with Daniel.

The liquor he had brought was top–tier and couldn’t even be bought on the market. So, Daniel was in high spirits, and his stories started flowing freely.

Daniel began, “Stacy’s father and I, now that’s a tale from long ago.

“Back then, I had no fame and no money. I was so poor that I was almost living on the streets. He was the one who recognized my talent and invested in me. He promoted my work everywhere, introduced me to people, and even called me his brother. He said I’d one day be

famous all over the world.”

He went on animatedly, “And you all know how that turned out. He didn’t bet on the wrong horse. I’ve made a good living through art, but he’ll always be my benefactor. His affairs are my affairs, and his daughter is my daughter…”

Daniel raised his glass and said, “Nat, I’m taking you as my one and only apprentice for sure. I had always hoped Stacy would like painting, but she’s never shown an interest. Well, if I can’t train her, I’ll train her best friend instead!”

With that, he roared with laughter.

By the time dinner ended, Daniel was completely drunk and barely able to stand.

At the restaurant entrance, a car pulled up and waited for Daniel to get in.

“Well…” Daniel stood by the car door, gripping Natalie’s hand tightly. He reeked of alcohol. ” The apprenticeship… You must… remember… Don’t forget…”

“Alright, Mr. Wagner. Please head back to the hotel and rest. Take care,” Natalie said gently.

Not far away, Ryan withdrew his gaze and turned to Jeffrey. “Mr. Foster, that was Mrs… I mean, Ms. Bennett, wasn’t it?”
