A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 108

Chapter 108

Ella finished the cup of water in small sips, then licked her lips and asked hesitantly, “Noah… do you not want me anymore?”

Noah’s heart lurched. “You’re silly. What are you talking about? I could give up on anyone but

never you.”

Tears immediately spilled from Ella’s eyes as she threw herself into his arms. “Really? I thought you wouldn’t forgive me, that you didn’t want me anymore.”

Pain gripped Noah’s chest. “The past is in the past. From now on, we’ll be together properly. As for the police, don’t worry. Axel won’t say a single word.”

“Okay.” Ella reflected quietly and felt that the accident had, in a sense, been worth it. It only deepened Noah’s guilt toward her.

Seizing the moment, she asked, “Then when will we register our marriage?”

Noah paused briefly, then answered without hesitation. “At the end of next month. We’ll go then, alright?”

The weight in Ella’s heart finally lifted. She smiled. “Alright. I’ll listen to you.”

Elysian convened its first shareholders‘ meeting of the second half of the year.

“Due to CEO Antonio Reeves‘ serious dereliction of duty and his failure to act during the company’s public–relations crisis, I hereby remove him from this post,” Bethany announced calmly.

Antonio’s face darkened. Many minority shareholders had long aligned with him, yet in that day’s vote, they all cast their ballots in favor, delivering him a decisive blow.

Bethany merely shrugged. “That’s up to you. But those who leave should remember—once you walk out, Elysian is not a place you can return to.”

Antonio immediately rallied his inner circle to submit collective resignations, throwing the company into sudden upheaval. But Bethany had long anticipated this.

William had already groomed successors for every key position. Even at the cost of substantial headhunting fees, she replaced them all with people she trusted.

That same afternoon, Antonio’s office was cleared out, and Bethany moved in.

Chapter 108

The rapid personnel overhaul unsettled employees at first.

But when the HR department released an upgraded benefits policy emphasizing fairness, transparency, and meritocracy, all personal connections were cut off entirely, and advancement was tied strictly to performance and ability.

As a result, the true professionals chose to stay.

Demi, Antonio’s wife, came to see Bethany in person. “Should I start calling you Ms. Porter now?”

Bethany smiled. “Call me whatever you like, Aunt Demi.”

Demi sighed. “You really have your father’s style. It’s a shame your mother misjudged things back then. I assume you were planning to persuade me to step down as well?”

Although they had once cooperated briefly, Demi was ultimately Antonio’s wife. As long as they remained married, her position as finance director was a ticking time bomb.

“Aunt Demi…”

Before Bethany could respond, Demi waved it off lightly. “I won’t put you in a difficult position. I’ll resign on my own. All I ask is appropriate compensation.”

Bethany smiled. “Of course. I’ll have Mr. Grant follow up with you.”

Demi stood and extended her hand. “When I go back this time, I’m divorcing him. Wish me

luck.”

“Good luck,” Bethany replied, shaking Demi’s hand.

She already had a candidate in mind for the new finance director.

“Ms. Ashford, you may bring all the documents and report to the company tomorrow.”
