A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 102
Chapter 102
Everyone could sense the tension within the company.
“Mr. Clay, did Ms. Porter and Mr. Reeves just have an argument?”
Everyone was baffled. They couldn’t believe that Bethany would dare confront Antonio so directly. After all, she was merely an HR director.
Easton gave a knowing smile. “Go back and review our hotel’s founding history. Have you forgotten that the original founder’s last name was also Porter?”
Everyone drew in a sharp breath, realizing that Bethany was actually a descendant of the company’s founder.
After leaving the office, Bethany drove straight to the nursing home.
“Beth? Why are you here so late?” Sarah greeted her beloved granddaughter warmly. “Have you eaten yet? Shall I ask the aide to get you some food?”
Bethany smiled and said, “Yes, please. Thank you for your trouble.” She nodded politely to the caregiver.
The nursing home offered an excellent environment. Bethany had arranged a dedicated caregiver solely for Sarah’s daily care, naturally at more than twice the cost of an ordinary
resident.
But to Bethany, it was worth every penny. She was busy with work and could only express her
love and care in this way.
“Grandma, I missed you, so I came to see you.” She hugged Sarah playfully, like a child who
never seemed to grow up.
Sarah smiled warmly and gently patted Bethany’s head. “Did something unpleasant happen at work? Or did Silas bully you?”
Each time Sarah spoke of Silas with such familiarity, Bethany felt a faint sense of dissonance.
“He… didn’t bully me. He treats me well, Grandma,” Bethany said, pressing her lips together.
Objectively speaking, they were simply in a marriage of convenience, yet Silas had fulfilled every responsibility of a husband–aside from being a little roguish at times.
“That’s good, that’s good! I’m just worried about you being unhappy. With Silas taking care of you in the future, I can rest easy.”

Bethany felt her nose sting. “Grandma, don’t say that. You promised me last time that you’d stay with me for a very, very long time.”
Sarah laughed. “I’ll do my best.”
At first, Bethany had wanted to talk to Sarah about the mess at the company, but after some thought, she decided to let it go. She figured that there was no need to make her worry.
As they shared the same meal, it felt as though she had been taken back more than ten years, to when Sarah was still strong and healthy.
Sarah understood Bethany better than she had imagined. “Beth, no matter what choice you make, I’ll always stand behind you. Go forward without fear, Beth.”
Bethany hugged her tightly, resting her head against Sarah’s shoulder. “Thank you, Grandma. I love you more than anything.”
When Bethany left the nursing home, she noticed several missed calls on her phone. She was somewhat surprised by who it was and returned the call.
“Mr. Mitchell?”
Oscar answered instantly. “Bethany, it’s nothing. I just wanted to check whether everything
has been resolved.”
Bethany paused. “You mean matters at my company?” She hadn’t expected Oscar to know
about it.
“Yes. Silas went to see Callan, probably because of your situation, so I wanted to ask.”
Bethany’s breath hitched in her throat. “You’re saying that Silas went to see Callan because of my situation?”
“Yes, Bethany. Don’t tell me you didn’t know?”
