A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 96

Chapter 96

Elysian Hotel was the only legacy Jack had left for Bethany. She wanted the hotel to flourish. That way, it would feel like he was still by her side, even though he had been gone for 20 years

now.

Once she arrived at Elysian Hotel, she asked John for the latest update on the situation.

“Ms. Porter, a lot of our employees spent all night at the police department for questioning, but they haven’t found anything suspicious yet. This batch of staff are long–time employees of our hotel. They would never steal or sabotage a customer’s personal belongings.”

John had worked in Elysian Hotel for ten years now. He’d handpicked these staff members and

trained them himself. It bugged him that they were doubted when this theft happened.

Bethany’s gaze was calm. “What you said doesn’t count as evidence. What matters is the police’s findings. The company has prepared a crisis–management statement, so you have to be prepared.

“That said, if we did nothing wrong, I’ll tell Uncle Antonio that we won’t admit to anything!”

Hearing that, John flashed Bethany a grateful smile. “I thank you on behalf of the staff, Ms.

Porter.”

Ella and her band performed in the concert as scheduled. Losing a violin affected the performance a little, but it wasn’t immediately noticeable unless one paid close attention.

Noah sat in the center of the audience.

Ella had given him the ticket to her concert, and his eyes were brimming with adoration as he

watched on.

She shone like a diamond when she was on stage. He really shouldn’t be thinking about a

certain someone who didn’t matter to him in the least.

In the future, Ella would be his wife.

Ella’s eyes reddened when she rose for the final bow.

“Thanks for coming to the concert and supporting us. We ran into a little trouble today, but

everything worked out nicely.

“You guys might not know this, but our violinist, Mr. Whitman, lost his favorite instrument.

Be that as it may, he pushed through and flawlessly performed in this concert.”

She bowed deeply. “Thank you, everyone. Thank you.”

Noah couldn’t help but frown. How did Axel lose his violin?

He went backstage with a bouquet. “Ella, congratulations. Your performance was amazing.”

Ella blushed shyly. “Thanks, Noah.”

“Oh, hey. Is he your boyfriend, Ella?”

“Boyfriend? Ella once said that she was already engaged! Surely, this is her fiance!”

Noah wore a faint smile on his face. Although he didn’t like socializing with these kinds of people, they were still Ella’s friends. As such, he would show them respect to a certain extent.

“Hi, everyone. I’m Ella’s fiance.”

“Wow!” Everyone cheered.

Ella leaned against Noah’s chest and said, “Gosh. Noah, look at them. They’re making fun of me!”

Noah held her waist tenderly. “Sorry, but Ella is a little sensitive. Please go easy on her.”

“Don’t worry. Everyone here absolutely dotes on her. We can’t bring ourselves to be mean to her one bit!”

“Axel, did they find out who broke your violin?” asked one of the band members.

Axel had been taking a break on a chair nearby. Hearing that, he shook his head.

“Not yet. Just my luck!”

Noah’s eyes flickered. “Ella, I heard what you said onstage. What on earth happened?”

Ella bit her bottom lip, hesitating to speak. “Noah, just let this one go. I’ll deal with it myself.”

When she put it like that, it only made him more curious.

“So, you’re hiding things from me now.”

“No, I’m not.” Eventually, Ella let out an exaggerated sigh. “Here’s the thing, Noah. Actually, I suggested that our band stay in Elysian Hotel, but I never expected their staff to deliberately sabotage Mr. Whitman’s violin.

“What’s more, it was a limited edition instrument. He has been using it for over a dozen years, and it’s worth millions of dollars.”

Ella hung her head and murmured, “What are the odds that they would know how valuable Mr. Whitman’s violin is, though?”

One of the band members made a nasty assumption. “If you ask me, the hotel manager from yesterday was behind it. Ella, does that sister of yours hate you? She seems the most

suspicious to me!”

Ella denied it, her tone resolute and unwavering. “It can’t be! Beth and I have our differences, but she’s not that kind of person!”

Noah said sarcastically, “Ella, you’re still too kind–hearted for your own good. “Bethany?” He snickered. “She might surprise you, and not in a good way.”
