A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy’s Woman 95
Chapter 95
Silas thought Bethany had been out having fun all this time. So, his tone carried an edge of irritation.
Still, she was too exhausted to explain herself. “Yeah, I’m home a little late today. Didn’t I tell you not to wait for me?”
Bethany’s tone was laced with a sliver of impatience, which in turn added to Silas‘ irritation.
Ever since she’d tended to his wound, they got a little closer. But now, coldness and distance crept back in between them.
He grabbed her wrist. “What’s the matter? Did anyone pick on you?”
Bethany fought back the sting in her nose. All she felt was exhaustion now.
“I’m sorry. I wasn’t in a good headspace today. That was uncalled for.”
Silas nodded. “Yeah. You were a little impatient a second ago, but it’s okay. I forgive you.”
The irritation that had been bugging her was immediately subdued by his teasing, gentle voice. A man like Silas definitely would never waste his energy on internal struggles.
“How about some support? I cook a mean pasta,” Silas said.
Bethany was actually a little hungry, and she would never say no to delicious food. “Cheese and black pepper pasta, please.”
Silas‘ eyes softened into a smile. “Okay.”
Bethany went to the bathroom to wash up soon after. By the time she came out, he had finished making the pasta.
She watched as he served the food with practiced ease.
“Do you frequently cook?”
“Sometimes, I get tired of the food out there. That’s when I make my own meals,” Silas answered honestly.
Bethany ate a mouthful of the pasta, and her eyes sparkled. “It’s delicious!”
She was surprised to learn that Silas was good at cooking.
He curled his lips into a grin. “I’m glad you like it.”

Regrettably, Bethany was still haunted by what had happened earlier that day. She stopped eating after having about half of it.
“I’ll put the rest in the fridge and save it for tomorrow’s breakfast.”
After all, Silas went to the trouble of making her the pasta. She couldn’t bring herself to tell him to toss it into the bin. It would be too cruel.
He clicked his tongue in disapproval. “It’s no wonder you’re so skinny. You barely ate anything.
Reaching out, he grabbed her plate and pulled it over to his side of the table. Then, he started digging in without hesitation.
Bethany immediately widened her eyes. “Aren’t you bothered that I’ve already eaten that?”
Silas made quick work of the rest of the pasta. Even so, he looked every bit as elegant and graceful as he had always been. He then grabbed a napkin and wiped his lips.
He gave her a meaningful stare. “I’m not that fussy. Enough talking. Wash up and go to bed
now.”
Bethany cast an inexplicable gaze at Silas. Had he always been this rugged?
“Alright. Thanks for tonight.”
Silas stared at her retreating figure until she disappeared from sight. Then, his gaze hardened
as he dialed a number.
“Look into something for me. What happened at Elysian Hotel today?”
Whenever Bethany had a conflict with Diana, her eyes would always turn red, even if she said she wasn’t bothered by it.
Today, however, she wore a faint, concerned expression. The only thing he could think of was
the hotel Jack left for her.
Before long, Arthur dug up the whole story.
Silas lowered his gaze. Some people just never learned.
“Mess with Reid Group’s stock tomorrow.”
Since Ella didn’t know how to take a hint, he would just have to deal with Gary.
Bethany was plagued by nightmares the whole night. Her sleep wasn’t restful in the slightest.

When she felt around for her phone and checked the time, it was only 6:00 am.
She was no longer sleepy. She soon got out of bed to wash up and planned to check things out
at the hotel.
Antonio was just a placeholder CEO, and the hotel’s reputation didn’t matter to him. However, it mattered a lot to Bethany.
