You Chose Her, so I Married Better Chapter 92

Chapter 92

After a long while, Stella stirred on the bed. Her eyelashes fluttered, and a faint murmur escaped her lips as she woke up.

The high fever had already gone down, but she could still faintly taste the bitter medicine she had taken.

She turned her head and saw Genevieve sleeping on the edge of the bed with her head resting on her arm.

Stella’s gaze settled on Genevieve’s slightly messy hair. The woman was fierce and annoying, yet when Stella had been feeling unwell, she had stayed and taken care of Stella.

Something seemed to clog Stella’s chest, leaving chest tight and achy. She reached out but hesitated for a moment before touching Genevieve’s hair carefully. It was soft. It was nothing like her personality at all.

Just then, Genevieve’s eyelashes twitched, and she slowly opened her eyes. As she sat up, she felt a coat sliding off her shoulders, so she caught it.

Stella watched Genevieve quietly. The hostility that usually filled her eyes was gone.

“You’re awake. Do you still feel unwell?” Genevieve asked, reaching out to touch Stella’s forehead.

Instinctively, Stella flinched, but she didn’t pull away. Sensing that the temperature was normal, Genevieve withdrew her hand and was about to get up and pour some water for Stella.

Resting in the little girl’s open palm was a neatly wrapped piece of dark chocolate. It was the same kind Genevieve had used to coax Stella the night before.

Stella’s cheeks were flushed, and her eyes darted everywhere except Genevieve’s eyes. She said, “It’s for you as a thank–you gift.”

As if Stella had just completed some incredibly difficult mission, she quickly shoved the chocolate into Genevieve’s hand. Then, she yanked up the covers and covered half her face.

Genevieve looked down at the chocolate in her palm, stunned. She raised a brow.

Was Stella acknowledging her now?

She didn’t refuse. Instead, she peeled back the wrapper and popped the chocolate into her mouth. The rich, slightly bitter cocoa melted in her mouth. She commented calmly, “It isn’t bad.”

At that moment, the door was pushed open, and Tristan walked in. He had already changed into a casual outfit and was holding a glass of warm water. Setting it on the nightstand, he said, “It looks like the little troublemaker finally knows how to tell good people apart.”

Stella poked her head out from under the covers. Her face burned red as she shot Tristan a fierce glare. Puffing out her cheeks, she protested, “Genevieve isn’t a bad person, but you’re still annoying!”

So what if he was her brother? All he ever did was stare at her with that icy gaze and threaten her. How was that anything compared to Genevieve’s warmth?

Upon hearing that, Tristan didn’t get angry. Instead, his smile deepened. Genevieve couldn’t be bothered to engage him. She handed the coat to him and said, “It’s yours.”

Tristan hummed in response, accepting it naturally and draping it over his arm.

At that moment, the tight string inside Stella seemed to finally loosen. The fever seemed to have burned away all her sharp edges.

Stella stopped causing trouble. Later, when Genevieve spread out her drawing paper and began rushing a draft at home, she simply hugged her knees and sat quietly on the carpet nearby, watching.

Genevieve needed to mix a special pigment. She lined up various bottles and jars on the floor. Then she crouched down and searched for something.

“Are you looking for this?” Stella asked. Her small hand extended a glass bottle with a label toward Genevieve. The label read, “Pearly gold powder.”

It was exactly what Genevieve needed. She looked up and met Stella’s cautious gaze.
