Chapter 84
Startled, Genevieve immediately turned around.
Tristan had appeared behind her at some point and was expressionlessly staring at the lit screen of her phone.
But being as sharp as she was, Genevieve sensed that the air around them had gotten icier.
“A friend,” she answered succinctly before locking her screen.
Tristan didn’t press further and changed the topic instead, “Are you done painting?”
Genevieve hummed in response.
“It’s not bad,” said Tristan.
After he gave her a fairly reasonable appraisal, he turned around and returned to the living room without saying another
word.
As Genevieve watched his retreating back, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. Still, she didn’t think too much of it. She just thought he was acting strange for no reason again.
She lowered her gaze and replied to Greg, saying, “I’m honored.”
Once Tristan returned to his room, he grabbed his phone and called a number.
The call was answered almost instantly.
“Mr. Hale.”
“Help me look into exhibitions at the art gallery next week,” said Tristan.
“Alright, Mr. Hale,” said the man on the other end of the call.
“Also…” Tristan paused before he continued, “Contact the organizer of the exhibition on behalf of URI Corporation and offer to sponsor them.”
Liam was stunned for a moment. Clearly, he couldn’t figure out what his boss‘ intentions were.
It was just a small art exhibition. Was there a need for URI Corporation to sponsor them?
“Mr. Hale, what’s your plan?” Liam asked.
“My request is very simple–cancel Greg’s artwork exhibition,” Tristan said calmly.
Early the next morning, the kitchen was already bustling.
Genevieve was wearing a loose white cotton shirt, and her sleeves were casually rolled up, leaving her slender wrists exposed.
She was stirring the pan with a wooden spatula. It was filled with apple slices that she was sauteeing meticulously for the oatmeal porridge. The sweet aroma was simply intoxicating.
This was usually what Tristan had for breakfast.
As for Stella, she didn’t deserve to have breakfast specially prepared for her.
Right then, a series of extremely soft footsteps sounded behind Genevieve. She didn’t even need to take a glance. She could tell who it was by the deliberately suppressed sound of breathing.
Stella was dressed in adorable pink pajamas. She peeked cautiously into the pan, her tiny little nose scrunched up. It was clear that the aroma was making her mouth water.

But soon, a mischievous grin appeared on her lips as she said in a sweet voice, “Morning, Genevieve,”
Genevieve glanced at her, sneering deep down. It was clear that Stella was up to no good since she had addressed her so sweetly. She simply hummed in response.
Then she continued stirring the pan, pretending not to notice the mischievous look in Stella’s eyes.
Stella didn’t get mad at Genevieve for ignoring her. She tiptoed and grabbed the mug with a bear design from the highest shelf and stretched in an exaggerated move.
“Gosh, I’m so thirsty. I want to have some water,” she said. She pretended to shuffle her feet unintentionally, blocking Genevieve’s line of sight perfectly with her body.
Then, she quickly took out a small glass bottle, twisted the cap off, and emptied the white powder into the pan.
It was half a glass of salt, which was enough to turn any delicacy into a disaster.
Once Stella did that, she quickly stuffed the empty bottle into her pocket and put on an innocent expression. She even hummed the theme song of “Snow Princess“.
She could almost picture the looks on Genevieve and Tristan’s faces when they ate their breakfast.
