You Chose Her, so I Married Better Chapter 71

Chapter 71

The thugs got even more aggressive with their attacks, forcing Heron and Genevieve into a dead end.

“Are you seeing this, old man?” said Zachary as he stood outside the circle of thugs. “This is what you get for opposing me.”

Then he turned to Genevieve and said in a condescending tone as if he were doing a favor, “Genevieve, if you kneel before me right now and hand over the Seeker’s Twinstone, I might show you mercy and grant you a quick death.”

Heron trembled in rage, his eyes burning with fury.

“Go to hell, you bastard!” Heron growled.

Genevieve paid no mind to Zachary’s threat. A man like him wasn’t a problem for her at all. Her concern was that she had to protect Heron.

The thugs were closing in, taking one step at a time to tighten the circle.

They stared at Genevieve and Heron like starving wolves closing in on their prey. They weren’t eager to attack. It was as if they were enjoying the final struggle before their prey completely exhausted their strength.

Zachary crossed his arms and said, “Stop fighting back, Genevieve. Just hand over the Seeker’s Twinstone, and I’ll make it quick for you. If you don’t, I don’t mind letting them leave a few marks on that beautiful face of yours as souvenirs.”

Genevieve glanced at Heron, whom she was shielding behind her. He was so frightened that the color had drained from his face. Yet he still gripped a broken table leg tightly, taking a defensive stance.

Right as one of the men grinned and swung his blade down at Genevieve, a group of people suddenly appeared at the door. With just one glance at the chaotic scene, Tristan instantly locked his gaze on Genevieve, who was trapped in the middle of the circle, covered in blood.

“Get rid of them,” he ordered.

Following behind Tristan were a dozen elite fighters, all dressed in the same black combat suits as he was. Armed with custom alloy batons, they moved silently–a stark contrast to Zachary’s thugs.

“Stop them!” Zachary bellowed, his expression darkening.

But it was already too late. It was a completely one–sided defeat.

Tristan walked straight toward Genevieve.

The two men blocking his path didn’t even see him move. All they noticed was their vision going black.

One of them was strangled by Tristan and lifted off the ground with one hand. With a casual toss, he was thrown toward a pillar like a rag doll. The other man was grabbed by the wrist. He didn’t even manage to let out a scream before Tristan kicked him, sending him flying.

Finally, Tristan stopped in his tracks before Genevieve.

With a frown, she looked at him and asked, “Why are you here?”

“Your business is my business,” Tristan answered.

Genevieve felt a pang in her heart. She glanced up and noticed the storm brewing in his eyes.

“You-”

“I’m late,” Tristan cut her off.

Chapter 71

was on Tristan and Genevieve, Zachary took out a small bag of blades.

“Tristan! Genevieve! Go to hell!”

As Zachary roared, he threw the poison–laced blades in Tristan and Genevieve’s direction with all his might. The blades flew through the air in such a wide arc that there was no way they could dodge.

“Watch out!” Genevieve shouted.

Her eyes widened. She wanted to push Tristan away, but she was a split second too late. Tristan turned around and stretched his arms out without hesitation, shielding both Genevieve and Heron completely.

A few blades sliced past Tristan’s arms. The color of his wounds changed in an instant.

He had been poisoned!

Genevieve cried out in alarm, “Tristan!”
