Chapter 64

In a top–level private members‘ club in the city, Regina was sobbing in front of a man.

Tears fell down her face as she begged, “James, you need to help me. I don’t know why Genevieve would do this to me. Ever since she’s gotten to know Mr. Hale, she’s been using his authority to wipe out my family. My father’s company can’t hold on for much longer…”

She gulped before continuing, “Does she want to destroy all of us?”

James handed her a tissue and comforted her gently. “Ms. Sloane, please stop crying. Tristan is someone who knows how to set his personal matters apart from business. Perhaps there’s been a misunderstanding.”

“There’s no such thing!” Regina grabbed his hand in agitation. “Genevieve is the one pulling the strings here! James, since you’re close to Mr. Hale, could you please knock some sense into him? I’m begging you!”

“Alright, calm down,” James replied. “I’ll find an opportunity to talk to him.”

After James had consoled Regina and seen her off, the kind look on his face disappeared. Only unconcealed mockery remained.

If not for the fact that the Sloanes had something the Landers wanted, James would never have bothered comforting someone like Regina.

He got into his car and took his phone out. Then, he casually pressed the “stop” button.

A voice recording appeared on his screen. He immediately sent it to Tristan, along with a message.

“Someone is after your wild kitten again. This woman isn’t just anyone. Do you want me to help you take care of it?”

Tristan called him almost immediately.

James put the phone on speaker, and Tristan’s voice sounded in the car. “Where is she?”

“She just left. She was crying so hard that even I felt bad for her.” James chuckled as he started the engine. “What is it? Did your girlfriend upset you again? Judging from your tone, it seems like you got blue–balled.”

There was only silence on the other end of the line.

“Stop poking your nose into my business.”

Tristan became irritated upon recalling how Genevieve had bitten him. He gritted out, “Keep a close eye on Regina. The person supporting her should be making their move now.”

“Understood,” James replied.

That night, Genevieve tossed and turned in annoyance in her bed. She ran the back of her hand across her lips. She could still feel Tristan’s hot breath on them. It wouldn’t go away no matter how much she tried.

Tristan’s dark eyes kept appearing in her mind relentlessly. What an asshole!

She sat up in bed, not feeling the slightest bit sleepy. Irritation flared up within her. She needed an outlet to vent her frustration.

She walked to her laptop and sat down.

The moment her fingers landed on the cool keyboard, the annoyance in her eyes dissipated.

Her goal this time was to hack into City Hospital’s internal records management system.

Raymond’s death wasn’t a simple matter. The subtle red dot on his neck and his warning weren’t things to be ignored. All of

it had to be connected.

The hospital’s firewall was top–notch, but it stood no chance against Zero. It was like paper against her skills.

In less than three minutes, Genevieve lightly tapped the “enter” key.

The screen read, “Access granted.”

She was in. She retrieved all of Raymond’s hospital records and read all the information from his admission up to his death.

Her heart began to sink.

Someone had indeed pulled some tricks–Raymond’s medical records had been tampered with. They didn’t leave any traces, but nothing escaped her eye.

Most importantly, the records of the emergency medication Raymond received within 24 hours of his admission had disappeared into thin air.

She compressed the data of tampered medical records and their timestamps. Then, she encrypted all of it and sent it to Kay.

She texted, “Follow the timestamps and find out the IP addresses of all the doctors who have touched the medical records.”

She wanted to know who was helping Raymond’s murderer cover their tracks.
