Chapter 54
“I apologize for my outburst,” Genevieve said, looking at him without any emotion in her eyes. “I’ve heard your explanation. Don’t worry. After all, we’re just business partners. And that’s all we’ll ever be.”
At her words, the atmosphere instantly grew tense.
Tristan looked at her and gulped unwittingly. He tried to say something, only to realize there was nothing he could say.
Should he explain himself?
But she said she had already heard his explanation.
Should he apologize?
Yet she had already told him not to worry.
He stared at the cold, distant expression on her face, his heart aching as if he had been stabbed.
In the end, everything he wanted to say boiled down to a single word.
“Okay.”
That night, Genevieve held a celebration at Lapis Lazuli.
She booked the largest private viewing lounge on the top floor and invited everyone from Blossom Studio to celebrate with her.
The lights made the room cast a dazzling, hazy glow as heavy metal music blasted through the speakers. The young employees from the studio were having the time of their lives.
“Gen! You were so cool today!”
“I agree! I’ll drink to you, Cen! I hope our studio becomes even more successful in the future!”
They clinked glasses and cheered loudly.
Genevieve was sitting on the corner of a sofa. She simply let them party among themselves and drank with everyone who came to congratulate her. After a few rounds of drinks, her usually aloof gaze grew unfocused and dazed.
She was frustrated–and it was all because of Tristan. Yet she had nowhere to vent.

She hated losing control of her emotions.
She wished she could just forget him.
Raising her glass, she finished every last drop of the warm, fiery drink.
“Gen, slow down,” Hannah said. She sat down next to Genevieve and looked at her with
concern. “You don’t look very good.”
“I’m fine.” Genevieve shook her head. The alcohol had numbed her nerves, making her
momentarily forget her frustration.
After drinking so much, she was starting to feel dizzy. Her stomach churned in discomfort.
She stood up, bracing a hand against the wall to support herself. “I’m going to the bathroom.”
“Should I come with you?”
“No, it’s okay.”
She walked out of the room, the loud sounds of the party ceasing behind her as the door shut.
The long corridor was carpeted, making her footsteps silent. The only light came from the dim, warm glow of the lamps along the walls.
Genevieve stumbled over her own feet. As her vision blurred, she started seeing double.
She turned a corner and walked right into the arms of a man reeking of alcohol.
A snarky voice piped up. “Oh, dear.”
The man grabbed her, his palm uncomfortably warm and sweaty as it caressed her forearm.
“Why aren’t you watching where you’re going, pretty lady?”
Genevieve felt a wave of nausea bubbling in her stomach. She frowned and tried to pull away,
but she was much too weak to do so.
“Let go,” she said in a cold, hoarse voice.
Yet instead of letting her go, the man leaned in closer.
His eyes roamed all over her. The moment he saw her face, he froze before his lips spread into a disgustingly wide smile.
“I was wondering who you were. Aren’t you the famous perfumer, Ms. Cen?”
He stuck out his beer belly and said proudly, “Let me introduce myself. I’m Jonas Zimmerman.
Chapter 54
I’m one of Mr. Hale’s business partners.”
His hand began sliding toward her waist.
“You’re young but talented, Ms. Cen. Mr. Hale has a great eye for such things. Since we have mutual acquaintances, shall we be friends?”
Genevieve’s glare was cold enough to kill.
It was Tristan yet again.
The flies buzzing around him always did whatever they wanted and used his name as a shield. “Get lost,” she hissed through her teeth.
