Chapter 52
The launch event proceeded smoothly. Genevieve explained the concept of her Rebirth series eloquently, drawing applause from the audience.
It was finally time for the live perfume–making session.
It was the most exciting part of the entire launch event.
Genevieve planned to make a special, limited–edition perfume from the Rebirth series as a gift for all the attendees.
Hannah wheeled a cart with hundreds of different perfume ingredients onto the stage and arranged them neatly on the glass table. The hundreds of bottles looked like soldiers awaiting
orders.
Genevieve put on her specially–made gloves, her expression focused as she turned to the table
in front of her.
She picked up a bottle of citron perfume oil and was about to pour some into the beaker when she paused.
The slightest hint of a sour, rotten scent drifted into her nose the moment she opened the bottle. As quickly as it had appeared, the foul scent disappeared among the other potent scents
around her.
It was so faint that she almost missed it.
Yet it was impossible to fool her sense of smell.
Genevieve’s expression grew cold.
She set the citron oil down and picked up the bottle of bergamot oil. Then, she checked the
pink pepper oil.
All seven of her core ingredients had been tampered with.
Whoever it was had used a colorless chemical component that was impossible to detect in small amounts. However, when mixed with certain ingredients and exposed to heat and light, it would give off a foul, rotten smell.
How dare they waste her ingredients? It was utterly foolish of them.
Tristan was sitting in the first row reserved for VIP guests, so he immediately noticed
Genevieve’s hesitation. He narrowed his eyes slightly.

James sensed that something was off as well and asked quietly, “What’s going on?”
Tristan remained silent. He simply continued staring at Genevieve.
By then, Hannah had also noticed that something was off with Genevieve. She was about to
speak up when Genevieve raised one slender hand and said, “Bring me B–3 vanillin, C–7 Iso E
Super, and that bottle of sealed damask rose extract.”
Hannah only froze for a second before coming to her senses and retrieving the ingredients
Genevieve had asked for from the box of raw materials.
Those in the crowd who were familiar with perfumery were stunned.
The ingredients Genevieve had asked for were incredibly different from her original formula, especially the sudden addition of damask rose extract. Damask roses were known for their overpowering scent, and the slightest accident could ruin the entire perfume’s structure.
What was she trying to do?
Was she trying to improvise and come up with a different formula?
Genevieve tossed away all of the ingredients that had been tampered with and immediately began her live perfume–making performance with the three new ingredients.
She moved smoothly, without any sign of hesitation.
Ten minutes later, when the last drop of perfume oil fell into the beaker, an indescribable fragrance permeated the air.
Where the original perfume was a fresh, aloof scent, the new perfume was like a glorious phoenix reborn from the ashes.
The top note was sharp and clean, with a hint of warm spiciness that immediately grabbed
everyone’s attention.
The middle note was a perfect, harmonious blend of damask rose and Iso E Super. The overpowering scent of the damask rose was softened by the woody, floral scent of the Iso E Super. It was mysterious, noble, and seductive.
The base note was long–lasting and subtle, like the last wisps of smoke from a candle. It was warm and reassuring.
Everyone was stunned into silence by the intoxicating scent.
Suddenly, a renowned Frencian perfumer with a head of white hair stood up,
his figure trembling. “Incredible! This is a miracle! This is what true freedom smells like!”

Applause erupted from the audience.
Genevieve stood on the stage, looking like a regal queen under the lights.
She picked up the microphone, her cold gaze sweeping over the audience before finally settling on one of the cameras.
“It seems like someone’s against my Rebirth series. They’re even willing to use despicable tricks to destroy it before it could even be launched.”
After she spoke, the screen behind her flashed.
A screenshot of Regina’s chat with a hacker appeared. It exposed everything–from Regina naming her offer of five million to buying the formulas and ordering the hacker to ruin the launch event.
“Thank you for your gift, Ms. Sloane,” Genevieve said coldly. “Now it’s time for me to give you one in return.”
The audience burst into a frenzy.
It wasn’t as simple as competition within the industry anymore. This was a crime.
At that very moment, a few police officers had already reached the Sloanes‘ home.
The reporters swarmed forward excitedly, nearly jabbing Genevieve’s face with their microphones.
“Ms. Cen! What’s the reason behind all the hatred between you and Ms. Sloane?”
