Chapter 22
Genevieve lowered her gaze, quietly concealing the turmoil in her eyes. When she looked up again, her face was perfectly composed, obedient, and deferential.
“I understand, Grandpa. You should get some rest. I’ll head out and get you a few prescriptions to help you sleep. It’ll be good for your health,” she said softly.
Raymond waved a tired hand in acknowledgment.
Genevieve didn’t spare a glance for the other three. As she walked out, she pulled out her phone and called Hannah.
“Hannie, it’s me.”
Hannah’s anxious voice came through immediately. “Gen? Are you okay? Did that bastard Zachary-”
Genevieve cut her off. “I need every piece of evidence you can get on Zachary’s affair during our marriage-especially anything involving Regina. I need it fast. Also, start digging into everything under his name. I want a full asset sweep, want to know if there have been any unusual transfers recently.”
There was a brief silence, then Hannah answered, “Understood. I’ll gather it now.”
“Okay.”
Genevieve hung up and immediately dialed another number.
“Jonathan, when are you coming back?”
and I
A deep, low voice came from the other end of the line. “Soon. I can’t drop what I’m handling on this side. Didn’t Hannah tell you? What happened?”
“Raymond is using his 30% stake in Lambert Group as leverage to force me to have a child,” Genevieve said, her voice icing over. “I need a divorce immediately. I can’t wait.”
“I’ll book the earliest flight.” Jonathan Brooks didn’t waste a single word.
With that, Genevieve hung up. The moment she lifted her gaze, she stopped short.
Not far beyond the gates, a low-key yet unmistakably luxurious black Maybach sat parked in silence.
A man leaned against the car, smoke from his cigarette winding upward and blurring the hard edges of his features.
It was Tristan. He was waiting for her.
When she approached, Tristan straightened and flicked the cigarette butt to the ground, grinding it out with the tip of his custom leather shoe.
“Genevieve,” he called out, his tone warm and familiar. He wasn’t pretending anymore.
“Do you need something, Mr. Hale?” Genevieve asked indifferently.
Tristan spoke without hesitation. “Let’s work together.”
Genevieve raised an eyebrow.
Tristan said, “I’ll help you divorce Zachary and get the 30% he’s been coveting.”
Genevieve didn’t let her expression shift. “And your terms?”
A smile tugged at Tristan’s lips, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “After the divorce, you’ll form a partnership with me as Cen.”
How did he know?

He had some nerve, laying her secret out so casually and turning it into a bargaining chip.
“You’ve planned this well, Mr. Hale,” she said coldly. “But you’re still part of the Lambert family. Why would I trust you?”
“Because,” Tristan said, holding her gaze, “no one wants Zachary gone more than I do.”
Genevieve didn’t care about the shares. But taking Zachary down? She was more than willing.
She studied Tristan for a moment and said, “I’ll think about it.”
She left those words behind and turned away without looking back.
Once she was on the road, she caught a gray, ordinary sedan in her rearview mirror, following at a careful distance.
A cold smile tugged at the
Soer of Genevieve’s lips.
Did they really think she was still the same soft target they could squeeze however they wanted?
