Chapter 11

Genevieve couldn’t shake the feeling that Tristan kept showing up everywhere.

Just then, the elevator doors slid open.

Tristan looked up, completely at ease. “Genevieve, what a coincidence.”

He stepped in first, but he didn’t hit the close button. His gaze stayed on her.

Genevieve stood where she was, resistance written all over her expression. She would rather take the stairs than share a confined space with this man.

Tristan seemed to read her mind. He gave a low chuckle. “What, you’re that scared? Are you afraid I’ll eat you?”

He dragged out the last word, his voice turning low and intimate, like a lover’s whisper. He was clearly provoking her.

Genevieve walked into the elevator anyway and deliberately took the farthest corner, bristling like an angry cat.

“I’m not divorced from your brother yet, so show some respect!” she said coldly. “If he finds out you’re talking to me like this, you won’t have an easy time with the Lamberts.”

Tristan didn’t bother holding back and laughed. He found it ridiculous that Genevieve thought Zachary was someone she could use against him.

The elevator doors closed.

Genevieve turned her face away, not bothering to look at him again.

The elevator reached the gala floor quickly. The moment the doors opened, she walked out without looking back.

Tristan didn’t follow right away. He stayed in the shadows by the elevator, watching the red figure disappear into the crowd.

“Mr. Hale.” Adrian appeared behind him and respectfully handed over the signed contract.

“Ms. Whitfield signed it. And she seems very interested in Ocean’s Embrace.”

Tristan took the contract and flipped through it casually, his gaze still fixed on the distance.

Adrian hesitated, but couldn’t stop himself. “Mr. Hale, Ocean’s Embrace is deeply meaningful to you. Are you sure it should be used as a prize-‘

Before he could finish speaking, Tristan cut him off with a sharp look.

Adrian swallowed the rest of his words and fell silent at once. He gave a bow and withdrew.

In the shadows, Tristan was left alone. He reached into his inner pocket and pulled out a necklace.

The gemstone glowed a deep ocean blue in his palm. It radiated a mysterious, irresistible allure.

His long fingers brushed the cold stone, and a faint smile curved at the corner of his lips.

If he wanted to reel in a big fish, the bait had to be tempting enough.

Genevieve walked into the main hall and saw Hannah rushing over.

For the competition, Genevieve couldn’t use her identity as Zachary’s wife or expose that she was Cen.

For now, Hannah was her best cover.

Just as Genevieve started toward Hannah, two people stepped in ahead of her.

Regina clung to Zachary’s arm, her smile overly eager. “Ms. Brooks, hello. My name is Regina Sloane. I’ve heard so much about you. I never thought that I’d get to meet you in person today. It’s such an honor!”

The second Hannah saw them, anger flared in her chest. She’d been waiting for a chance to get back at Regina and Zachary for Genevieve, and they’d just handed it to her.

Her mind was instantly filled with scenes from that obscene video and everything Genevieve had endured.

Hannah glanced at Zachary, then fixed her gaze on Regina.

She lifted her hand and fanned the air in front of her nose with effortless elegance, her brows knitting in open disgust. “Stay away from me. You smell disgusting.”

The smile on Regina’s face stiffened. She instinctively raised her wrist and smelled it.

She was wearing a new fragrance she had just blended, made with premium materials. How could it possibly stink?

Zachary clenched his jaw as he watched his lover being humiliated, barely holding himself back

“Hannie, what’s wrong?”

Genevieve had just walked over and caught that remark full of contempt. She stopped in her tracks, a laugh almost slipping

out.

It seemed that Hannah was really good with words when it came to cutting people down. And Genevieve liked it.
