Married at First Sight Chapter 1700

In Chapter 1700 of “Married at First Sight,” titled “Mrs. Lewis,” Liberty quickly stood up to greet Mrs. Lewis as she entered the store.
Mrs. Lewis responded warmly and, noticing the store was quiet, gently asked, “Liberty, would it be convenient for you to join me for a cup of coffee at a nearby café?”
Liberty smiled and replied, “That sounds great.”
She removed her apron, tucked it away, and addressed her two shop assistants, saying, “Please tidy up; I’ll be out for a bit. Jim will bring Sonny back later, so please look after him for me.”
The two had planned to visit a nearby coffee shop that was struggling to attract customers and was losing money each month. The owner intended to sell the business.
Despite its decent location, the coffee shop had failed to draw in many patrons. Was the problem a result of the owner’s poor management or the chef’s lackluster cooking?
Liberty was eager to investigate further. She wanted to assess the surrounding area to determine if it would be a viable opportunity for her to take over the coffee shop.
Her sister’s vegetable farm was thriving, having established a stable business that partnered with numerous hotels, schools, and factories to supply large quantities of vegetables daily.
In addition to managing her own investments, Serenity was also learning to navigate the complexities of her in-laws’ family affairs, keeping her quite busy.
Liberty didn’t expect to reach her sister’s level of success; she simply aimed to make a significant breakthrough in the catering industry.
“Sounds good.” After organizing her store duties, Liberty followed Mrs. Lewis out.
Rather than accept a ride from Mrs. Lewis, Liberty drove her own car and trailed behind her to the coffee shop.
The coffee shop’s business was mediocre, so it appeared…

It was very quiet. Both ordered a cup of coffee.

“Mrs. Lewis, you need to rest more and focus on your health,” Liberty said with concern. Compared to before, Mrs. Lewis appeared older and more haggard; she didn’t even wear makeup and lacked the grace and elegance of a noble lady as she once did.

With a wry smile, Mrs. Lewis replied, “I want to take care of my health, but seeing Duncan like this makes it impossible for me to eat or sleep. I feel so uneasy.”

After a moment of silence, Liberty reassured her, “Mr. Lewis will get better.”

Mrs. Lewis picked up her coffee cup and took a sip. She had been sleeping poorly and was in low spirits. She arranged for coffee to be delivered to the hospital twice a day, relying on it to get through each day.

Setting her cup down, Mrs. Lewis lamented, “Liberty, I regret it so much that it makes me ill. Duncan likes you; why did I try to stop him? He’s almost 40, and it’s rare for him to feel this way about someone. I should be happy, but I… If only I could have Tania’s mindset, Duncan wouldn’t be lying in bed today.”

Tania was the head of the York family, and her position was invaluable. Having grown up in wealth, she always had high standards.

When Zachary’s grandmother pressured him to marry Serenity, Tania was unhappy but allowed her son to make his own decision. At first, she didn’t like Serenity and struggled to accept her as her daughter-in-law.

However, despite her initial feelings, Tania never acted to harm Serenity or tried to separate the young couple. When someone called Tania to complain about Serenity, she disregarded her status and image, fiercely defending her daughter-in-law.

Mrs. Lewis reflected on this.

If Tania had possessed the same mentality and structure, today’s events would not have unfolded as they did.

“Duncan has been trying to persuade me, but I refused to back down. I didn’t agree with you two being together. I told him that if he wanted me to accept your relationship, he would have to cut the mother-child bond with me. Liberty, if I could turn back time, I would definitely support you and Duncan.” Mrs. Lewis grasped Liberty’s hand and continued, “Liberty, I want to walk away from this situation and stop worrying about it. As long as Duncan is healthy, he can love whoever he chooses. He genuinely cares for you, and what he said to you in the hospital was not the truth.”
