Married at First Sight Chapter 1666

Chapter 1666
“Mom!”
“I’ll be honest. If you can completely sever ties with me, I won’t care about who you love or pursue anymore.”
With that, Mrs. Lewis turned and stormed off.
Duncan felt frustrated with his mother.
He couldn’t understand why, despite not hating Liberty, she was so stubborn and refused to accept his relationship with her.
He hadn’t even succeeded in winning Liberty over yet. His mother’s outburst would only serve to hinder his chances.
Liberty, who had never loved him, would likely be intimidated by his mother and would be reluctant to reciprocate his feelings.
Duncan looked around, deciding not to return to Liberty’s apartment. Instead, he headed to his car. Once inside, he called Zachary and Josh to invite them out for drinks.
He hung up after speaking, ignoring whether they would accept, and started the car.
Meanwhile, at the Buchams’ residence, Josh stared at the ended call on his phone. “I’m still on my marriage leave. Why would he call me out for drinks?”
He checked the time; it was still early, not even evening yet.
What was Duncan thinking, calling him out for drinks?
After considering it, Josh decided to call Zachary. When Zachary answered, he asked, “Did Duncan invite you out for drinks? What kind of shock did he experience? He called me, invited me out, and hung up before I could decline.”
“He disturbs me while I’m still on my marriage leave. Are you free, Zachary? You should go with him for a drink or two. I’m heading to Wiltspoon School to be with my wife.”
After he finished speaking, Zachary replied, “Duncan just called me as well. He hung up before I could refuse, too. It’s clear he’s been thwarted by his mother again while trying to court my sister-in-law. They—

that they must have fought again. Mrs. Lewis remained stubborn and refused to give her blessing. Despite Duncan’s headstrong nature, he couldn’t ignore the fact that she was his mother, which only added to his frustration. Zachary thought, ‘My sister-in-law hasn’t even acknowledged his feelings.’ Mrs. Lewis’s discouraging behavior would ultimately harm her relationship with her son.

Josh frowned. “Your sister-in-law still hasn’t accepted Duncan, right? She openly said she didn’t like him and had no feelings for him. What does Mrs. Lewis hope to gain by causing such a scene?”

“She’s reacting this way because my sister-in-law doesn’t have feelings for Duncan. She wants him to give up,” came the reply.

Zachary sighed. “I’ll just have a drink. We should try to convince Duncan to let go as well.” He had previously advised Duncan that if Liberty did not reciprocate his feelings, he shouldn’t keep pursuing her to avoid jeopardizing their friendship.

Zachary had a strong bond with Duncan, having been friends for many years. Now, he found himself caught between Duncan and Liberty, feeling the pressure of both sides. He genuinely wished for Duncan to end up with Liberty, as he believed it would lead to her happiness for the rest of her life.

However, Mrs. Lewis’s unwavering opposition to their relationship and her increasingly negative attitude led Zachary to withdraw his support for Duncan and Liberty getting together.

After a brief silence, Josh remarked, “We know how Duncan is. The more someone tries to stop him, the more determined he becomes. He has a rebellious streak that runs deep. No one can change his mind unless he decides to let go himself.”

Even if Liberty were to leave, Duncan would neither give up nor back down. He would search for her, even if it meant traveling around the world. Liberty was aware of this determination.

the reality. Thus, she did not consider escaping. It was inevitable. Her only option was to move, preventing Duncan from visiting her apartment every day.
