Chapter 1661
Liberty never mentioned her conversation with Mrs. Lewis to Duncan.
However, he learned about it from his mother.
When he discovered that his mother had forced Liberty to move out, relocate, and even leave Wilt spoon with Sonny, he confronted her in anger.
Both Mrs. Lewis and Duncan were furious.
In the end, neither was willing to compromise; both were steadfast and unwilling to back down.
Liberty glanced at Duncan and resumed her task, stating, “If I’m not the issue, then I wouldn’t have to make so many sacrifices.”
Duncan laughed, appreciating that assertive side of Liberty.
Meanwhile, Sonny took the phone into a room and dialed Serenity’s number.
He knew that his mother’s first contact was Aunt Ser’s.
Serenity answered the call shortly after.
“What’s the matter, Liberty?”
She assumed it was her sister calling.
“Aunt Ser, it’s me, Sonny.”
Upon hearing her nephew’s youthful voice, Serenity smiled and replied, “Hey, Sonny. Did you call me all by yourself?”
“Yeah. I took Mom’s phone and hid in a room to call you.”
“What do you want to tell me?” Serenity found it amusing that her nephew had hidden away just to make the call. He was becoming quite the little rascal.
Learning self-defense at the gym had made Sonny more courageous.
At his age, he was articulate and increasingly charming.
“Dunc is here again, Aunt Ser.”
“Doesn’t Dunc come over every day?” Serenity was aware that Duncan visited his sister daily.
Sonny replied, “He does, but Dad told me Dunc is here to take Mom away from me. Dad said to call him whenever Dunc shows up.”
Hearing this, Serenity silently reprimanded Hank.
Hank had married
Jessica was eager right after her sister and Hank got divorced. The couple had been excitedly anticipating the birth of their child, while Jessica’s sister had already found a new suitor. However, Hank was determined to sabotage that.
Was her sister not allowed to marry someone else while he could? Regardless of whether Liberty chose to remarry, Hank’s influence on Sonny revealed his narrow-mindedness. A scoundrel would always remain a scoundrel; his true nature could not be changed.
“Aunt Ser, do you think I should call Dad?” Sonny asked. The two people he trusted most were his mom and Aunt Ser, but he was hesitant to ask his mom that question since she and Dad were divorced. He had finally grasped the meaning of divorce, so his only option was to consult Aunt Ser.
“Do you think Dunc is here to take your mother away from you, Sonny?” Serenity countered with a question. After some thought, Sonny replied honestly, “Last time, Dunc told me he was here to join Mom and me. He’s not a bad person.”
“Since you believe Dunc isn’t trying to steal your mom, you don’t need to worry about what your father said.”
“Why did Dad say that?” Sonny asked. After a brief silence, Serenity replied, “Your father just thinks it’s unfair. Don’t let it bother you. It’s fine as long as you and your mother don’t dislike Dunc. Is he nice to you?”
