Chapter 1659
In that moment, Serenity was at a loss for words.
As Camryn had mentioned, Serenity felt unworthy of being with Zachary due to her background.
For Camryn, though, the issue was her health.
After a brief silence, Serenity reassured Camryn, “Camryn, your eyes will be just fine. Callum will find the best doctor to help you.”
Callum had gone to Annenburg.
No one was aware of his circumstances.
Camryn soon set aside her sadness. With her familiar smile, she said to Serenity, “Let’s change the subject. It’s probably for the best that Callum is away on a business trip. With some distance, we can both think clearly. Maybe he’ll move on from me.”
It would be a lie to claim she had no feelings for Callum, but accepting him was still a challenge for Camryn.
She constantly felt that her blindness made her unworthy of someone as remarkable as Callum.
He deserved to marry someone better than her.
Serenity replied, “Callum won’t give up on you unless he no longer has feelings for you.”
“Aunt Ser, when are we leaving?” Sonny interrupted.
Children struggle to stay in one place for long without toys.
Sonny was no exception.
He had admired all the flowers in Camryn’s shop.
After sitting for a while, he was ready to leave.
Camryn asked with a smile, “Sonny, isn’t it fun to be in my shop?”
“Not really,” Sonny replied honestly.
Serenity laughed and said, “He didn’t bring any toys, so he can’t stay here for long. Camryn, feel free to continue with your work. I’ll take him home.”
“Alright.”
Camryn stood up to escort Serenity and Sonny out.
“Camryn, you don’t need to see us off. Go back inside. We’re leaving now.”
“Goodbye, Cammy.”
After
After bidding farewell to Camryn, Sonny climbed into the back seat and buckled his safety belt by himself.
Chapter 1659
Camryn waved goodbye with a smile. Serenity drove Sonny to Liberty’s house and chatted with her before leaving. Just as Serenity was about to depart, Duncan arrived.
At the door, Duncan held a bouquet of flowers. He straightened his clothes before raising his hand to knock. Inside, Liberty was making ravioli when she heard the knocks. She called out to her son, “Sonny, go see who’s at the door. If you know them, you can let them in.”
Sonny hummed in response, then moved a chair to the door, stood on it, and peered through the peephole. Spotting Duncan outside, he quickly jumped off the chair, pushed it aside, and tiptoed to open the door.
“Sonny, who is it?” Liberty asked.
“It’s Dunc,” Sonny replied as he opened the door.
“Dunc!” he exclaimed as he rushed toward Duncan and hugged his leg.
With a smile, Duncan picked him up. “Sonny, you’re home! I thought you were at Aunt Ser’s place.”
“Aunt Ser sent me back. She’s busy tonight. Dunc, don’t you have to go to work?” Sonny asked innocently.
Uncle Zak worked during the weekdays and only rested on weekends, so Sonny wondered why Duncan had time to visit every day. Didn’t he have a job too?
