Married at First Sight Chapter 1653

Chapter 1653
“This house is too quiet. Get a few people to watch over it.” During her walk, Mrs. Stone expressed her concern that her daughter’s house lacked liveliness.
The Stones’ housekeeper would arrange for someone to clean the villa, but it remained unoccupied.
Elisa appreciated the solitude and freedom of being untethered by anyone’s expectations.
“I think it’s perfect just the way it is.”
Elisa preferred to maintain the current situation.
Mrs. Stone shot her daughter a disapproving glance, not wanting to continue the argument.
“I’m going to a charity gala tonight. You should come with me.”
“Mom, you know I’ve never liked attending galas. Why not invite Seren or Liberty instead?”
Mrs. Stone playfully tapped Elisa’s head. “You’re a businesswoman now. Networking is essential. How can you succeed in business without socializing? Your success in Wiltspoon is largely due to your brother’s reputation. People are willing to engage with you for the sake of our family’s standing.”
“Fortunately, the vegetables from your farm have been well-received. At least no one has criticized them. But once you leave Wiltspoon for other cities, who will even know who you are?”
“I’m insisting you attend the gala for your own benefit. Seren may not enjoy such events either, but she is responsible, self-motivated, and eager to connect with others. She has changed significantly and is now much more confident.”
“Moreover, Zachary will be at the charity gala as well. Seren will surely accompany him, so how can she be there for me? You’re my daughter.”
At times, Mrs. Stone felt powerless against her daughter’s stubbornness, a result of the family’s indulgence.
“What about Liberty? You can bring her along.”
“Don’t you know her personality? Even…

Seren couldn’t convince her to attend, and I certainly couldn’t either. Liberty needs to care for Sonny at night.”

Elisa pursed her lips and reached a compromise. “Fine. I’ll go with you to the gala. How much money and what items will the Stone Group donate?”

“You’ll find out tonight.”

The prominent families in Wiltspoon typically attended significant charity galas, donating items regardless of whether their motives were kindness or reputation preservation.

It would be Serenity’s first time accompanying Zachary to such an event, as they represented the Yorks. Mrs. Stone would not be able to persuade Serenity to stay with her.

“Mom, will Mr. Reading be there?” Elisa suddenly asked, worried that Mrs. Stone might arrange for her to interact with Andrew.

“How would I know? I can’t read Mr. Reading’s mind.”

Elisa playfully stuck her tongue out before falling silent. Mrs. Stone had reconciled with Elisa, and now that she had come to speak with her personally, Elisa’s anger over being dismissed from Mrs. Stone’s car had faded.

Since Serenity would accompany Zachary to the charity gala, she planned to close her bookstore in the afternoon and send Sonny to Liberty’s house. Just then, Jasmine arrived at the store.

As Serenity prepared to close, Jasmine said, “Seren, I’ll watch the store. You can do whatever you want. I was bored at home, but I finally convinced Josh to let me out.”

While speaking, Jasmine walked into the store and set her bag on the counter. “I’ll keep an eye on the shop. I’d much rather read novels here than lie at home like a pig. I sleep and eat at home, which makes me feel like I’m living a pig’s life.”
